(1,109 posts)We need a show of force; therefore, I suggest that at the very next meeting, everyone on the January 6 Committee should 'shuck-their-jacket' which would be something he would surely understand.

(21,574 posts)i can't believe "refuses to testify to congress" is actually a thing. and i can't believe it takes 8 months to prosecute contempt, and even if convicted it believe its only a year in prison? like......... how can that be. i would think if you refuse they said the brute squad and haul you in and put you in the chair whether you like it or not.

I see no reason for him to comply, since there will be nothing adverse for doing so.

Dems don't want to look to "political"
orleans
(34,053 posts)at this point they have a choice.
they can either be like "oh, okay... we won't make you come and talk to us"
and come off weak and spineless
or shrug it off because they don't want to look "political" or partisan
or they can start kicking some ass when these pukes flip them (and the constitution & democracy) off
trivia (and off topic)
for some reason that old judy miller / scooter libby / the aspens are turning / judy got jail time for not revealing source -- that comes to mind. but i guess that wasn't congress. it was fitz & a grand jury

(33,582 posts)but they won't, because they somehow think the people who hate them and will never vote for them no matter what are important.

(7,432 posts)The J6 Committee has only one path to follow. Jordan cannot be an exception. So he'll be subpoenaed and he'll fight it. The critical factor is the speed at which the Courts decide. Courts may get very tired of this bs and quickly move.

Not shocked he won't.
And I hope to be pleasantly surprised when they hold him in contempt.

Adam DiSabato the brother of Mike DiSabato, the whistleblower who exposed the abuse by Richard Strauss testified Wednesday during a public hearing in the state legislature that when the story came out in July 2018, he received a phone call from a tearful Jordan.
Jim Jordan called me crying, crying, groveling, on the Fourth of July, begging me to go against my brother, begging me, crying for half an hour, Adam DiSabato said, according to video of his testimony. Thats the kind of coverups going on here.,,,,,
In the midst of the Trump impeachment proceedings in the House, which Jordan took an active and high-profile role in, a new lawsuit was filed in which one alleged victim of Strausss sexual misconduct said he had reported it to Jordan. Jordan has been named in one other lawsuit as having been told, but he is not named as a defendant in any of them.

(21,350 posts)So the select committee issues Gym a subpoena and gives him what, 2 weeks to appear? Then when he doesn't show up they need to meet which may take another day or 2 to vote to send the criminal referral to Garland. Then maybe 4 or 5 days later they need to take a vote in the entire House. Once that is completed then the referral can be sent to Garland.
Keep in mind folks, the select committee already went through this process for Mark Meadows and we have heard nothing back from DOJ yet, Monday will be 26 days since Garland got the referral. Why waste the time, Steve Kornacki will soon be taking the stage.
Yeah I know that Garland indicted Steve Bannon after 21 days and his trial is the end of July but Bannon was low hanging fruit not a part of Trump's administration like Meadows is. Indicting Meadows or Jordan could be looked upon as DOJ being partisan.

(25,816 posts)After Bannon and, hopefully Meadows, they should just rubber stamp every request by the 1-6 committee.
Time is of the essence. If anything, the DoJ is looking political in favor of the repubs.

(111,098 posts)...and he wants a Democrat to come before them and testify?
He will refer them directly to the DOJ and demand contempt of Congress.
He will go on FOX News to explain the difference between himself and the Democrat.
