It's deja-vu all over again.

Just got an e-mail from my cat's vet; they are going back to curbside service just like last year. Fortunately cat doesn't need to visit right now, but it seems like everything is going in reverse. My city is now under a mask mandate again, a good thing, but...

*sigh*

I expect there will be another round of vaccines that won't necessarily be boosters of the original ones but will be modified for new variants. Covid whack-a-mole.

*sigh*

But I'm not going to drink my own pee.

if you were masked, but they'd only let one human in at a time, and curbside service was still available. Now you can't come in at all. They might have let up a bit for awhile because the vaccination rate and mask use in this area are pretty high. Just not high enough, as it turns out.

They were closed for 2 days last week because of staff shortages. One of dogs has an appointment tomorrow.

(typically) and no practical way to increase ventilation. There is simply no way--even with all wearing N95 masks-- to absolutely prevent transmission and that is even more difficult dealing with sometimes unpredictable animals where masks may go flying.

This is the only practical protective solution.

and so far there's no evidence that they can transmit it back to people (the viral load might be too small). The clinic, waiting room and exam rooms are pretty small, so it makes sense to keep non-employees out.

to have our old cat Rosie euthanized because she had cancer, but I haven't been able to go in and ask questions or observe for the other cat. I hope that changes. It's better to ask questions as things are proceeding rather than after the fact via phone. Covid is getting real, real old.

On the rational side, I saw a headline that Pfizer CEO said variant booster should be ready by March!
