and my wife and I suddenly are hearing of lots of people locally that have it.

We are being really careful, double vaxxed and boosted and flu shots, masking, avoiding....and just shaking our heads at so much blatant idiocy around us.

Our Next Door neighborhood app has devolved into food fights with the right wing no nothings going at those who know better - the flare up, get shut down, start again.

I have about 150 people in our area on mute on that app! They are all beyond salvage, deeply into the cult

Two are vaxxed and boosted, one is unvaxxed.

The one who is unvaxxed is worried about his mother, who lives with him. I wanted to scream, but I bit my tongue. I wanted so badly to ask why he didn't worry enough about her to get vaxxed. And get this, he has Lupus. I hope he's ok.

I was on a Zoom event with someone who on day 1 announced that she had Covid. She looked tired, and bowed out after a few hours. By day 3 she looked, acted, and sounded like her usual self - she said it was like a bad cold. But then she's fully vaxxed and boosted (she thinks she got it from her grandson - also vaxxed, but a teenager who probably has friends who aren't). There were some other people on the event who also got mild cases over the holidays, usually from children or grandchildren. Again, they're all fully vaxxed and boosted and had very mild cases.

Yes, the current variant is affecting a lot of people, but people who are fully immunized seem to be doing OK after a few days. So get those shots!

But all cases were mild as well and seemed to go away relatively quick.

Too many cases around. Most folks are remote anyway.

A sibling wants to do dinner out with us this week. They’re vaxxed times 2 plus boosted and so are we but nope nope nope.

Dh and I are fine with hunkering down for a bit.

My mother and I are both vaxxed and boosted, but mom is 82, and no way are we risking bringing it into the house.

First day of symptoms coincided with the day after I got the booster, so I thought it was just the vaccine response, but I had lingering congestion, so I got checked.

Fully vaxxed, masked in public, and with the luxury of being able to stay home most of the time - If I can catch it, anybody can.

Luckily, my symptoms were a typical, mild cold.

I work in a public school and lets face it, that means I'm pretty much exposed to the virus daily. I felt safe with Delta. I had people positive with Delta cough and sneeze while standing a couple feet away from me many times. I fortunately never got it. (Fully vaxxed and boosted, masked indoors) Omicron is marching through the school like Sherman's army and people are getting it right and left. I don't know if I'm just lucky or really do have effective immunity from the vaccine at this point. I had a certain amount of confidence that I was well-protected during the Delta surge, but not so much this time.

I feel the same way. I worry that if it's just luck, I could be asymptomatic and spread it to my family who might not be so lucky.

Don't expect it to keep you COVID-free.

My daughter was boosted less than 2 months before she got COVID. I likely also had COVID, even though I never tested positive.

So two of the three vaxxed and boasted members of our family have likely had it.

(I had something very similar to my daughter 6 days earlier, but tested negative)
