I was sick and laid up with a cough & runny nose for 5 days wondering if it was COVID waiting for the results. Turns out you can still get a good old fashioned COLD these days too! can't believe I was actually grateful for a cold.

(12,629 posts)Experts agree on one thing: If you're going to test both the nose and throat, swab the throat first. In terms of an official stance, the FDA says to follow the test instructions.

(12,629 posts)then put the swab into my throat. Guaranteed to move pathogens from a place that can deal with them - the nose- to a place that cannot deal with them -the throat. But you, of course, are free to do as you wish.

Was bad for 9 days, felt the effects for 2 weeks.

(16,844 posts)By then, I was negative. I think I had Covid, although it's possible I had the flu. I tested negative for the flu, too, though. Can't say for sure what I had, but the chest congestion and nasal drainage didn't stop until just the other day.
