Taliban announces a national suicide brigade

The Taliban recently announced it will establish a battalion of suicide attackers as part of the national army of Afghanistan.

These “martyrdom brigades” will be “under the control of the ministry of defense and will be used for special operations,” according to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

This was condemned as “horrific and appalling” by Shaharzad Akbar, the chairwoman of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission.

Suicide missions and martyrdom have both long been associated with terrorist activity. Before sweeping into power in 2021, the Taliban used suicide bombers for 20 years to attack US, UK and Afghan troops. How do such activities fit within a military force?

The origins of suicide bombing can be traced to March 13, 1881, when Ignaty Grinevitsky, a member of The People’s Will terrorist group, dropped a bomb at the feet of Tsar Alexander II outside the Winter Palace in St Petersburg, killing them both.

I just watched a documentary about this. It was eye-opening.

The sailors were terrified of them.

The basic take-away from the documentary was that they just ran out of pilots, if not, the carnage would have been much much worse.

They were so effective the US military actually censored any mention of them in soldiers' letters back home and even had major newspapers writing bogus columns that the stories of "suicide pilots", were just rumours and there were no instances happening anywhere...

"1 man, 1 ship" was their motto and they had it down to a science towards the end....

Truly frightening and shows you can never underestimate the gullibility and sheer craziness of the deluded.

Some lessons in there we can probably relate to today...

But it’s not sustainable. General Patton: no son of a bitch ever won a war by dying for his country. He won the war by making some other son of a bitch die for his country. I think that’s basic

This bunch of goofballs took over the Afghan government, cannot provide basic services to their population, are begging for international handouts and assistance, but they've somehow got time to create a suicide brigade.

Well Done............Extremely Well Done!

I feel sorry for the people of the country, but turning money over to this group is in the best interest of no one.

They virtually sealed their fate on getting any of that money.

Then came this devastating starvation, hitting women and children hardest and I wondered if the Western countries would soften.

Now they’re literally forming suicide squads - a monstrous terrorism tool.

The situation in Afghanistan could possibly get even worse than pre-2000 levels. Better be prepared for some gruesome footage in the next year.
