The planners of the Jan 6 coup knew it had to be a permanent direction - frightening implications
There are so many people involved in the Jan 6 coup a the highest levels of repug government. They would know that if the coup succeeded, the only to stay out of jail after future elections we to ensure they could never lose power. This is what dictatorships are about. So i'm pretty sure the plan was for trump to never lose power again and for democracy to be dismantled or function like a third world dictatorship.
This is the mindset of the republican leadership. If they were willing to support a coup on Jan 6th, i don't believe they have any interest in protecting our Democracy. We show weakness at the risk of American values and Democracy.

3. I don't know--it's possible they all thought that if it failed, they'd be pardoned
somehow, or we'd all forget what happened, or they would otherwise get away with it. I mean, they've gotten away with it so far, at the upper levels (the riff-raff are getting charged and going to jail, as usual). Wealthy powerful people never think they'll face charges or go to jail, because most of the time they don't.

12. The ones that surprise me this week
Are the idiots who signed the fake elector forms and MAILED THEM TO THE FUCKING CONGRESS AND NATIONAL ARCHIVES!!!
I was encouraged to hear last night (Rachel) that the Michigan AG has referred those from her state to the US Attorney's office for Federal investigation. Those are likely some very comfortable people who have nice houses and nice cars. Three meals a day and a beer now and then. They may get three meals a day where they might end up too, but it won't be nearly so nice. |

13. Yes, how in the world could you think that was a good idea?
I imagine they were thinking, if it actually works they win--if it DOESN'T work people will forget about it or they'll say it was just meaningless "what-if" junk mail...

6. It's a goal they can't opt out of or abandon.
If the Republican party is not totally eliminated there is no safe place to store the remnants. No safe for us or them. They've become the outrageous villain gang in a comic book political world.

I guess evil will always be with us.
I think Trump is hoping for an imperial style dynasty, his children and grandchildren to follow him. |

27. and the destruction of Democracy i believe
No one supporting a repug agenda believes in America, God, Christianity, or Democracy. They want to destroy our current lifestyle and move to a racist dictatorship.

10. The Oath Keepers are ex-military and ex-police.
I saw a picture of the Blue Lives Matter flag with the blue stripe peeled back and under it was a swastika. That is who they are.
I have read that when the Nazi were raging through villages killing all the Jews, to keep their soldiers from the trauma of murdering men, women, children and babies in village after village, they had the local authorities (police) do the actual killing. The police did it willingly. It’s not that dark yet, but we’re getting there. Last year. I saw a sticker on a car of the Blue Knights International logo, then found the web site. It is a motorcycle club of retired police officers. The club probably does good stuff, but how “ironic” that the police who have been historically associated with the White Knights of the KKK would name their club The Blue Knights. |

17. That one line says it all........
"If they were willing to support a coup on Jan 6th, i don't believe they have any interest in protecting our Democracy"
We need to use this to convince independent voters to side with us during the midterms. Why vote for a party who has a history (Jan 6th) of attempting to overthrow our form of government? Want to lose all your freedoms? |

25. But the way they sell it to the masses is rather bait and switch
They're patriots, right? Wrapped in the flag and loudly blasting their righteousness every day on FOX and a zillion AM radio stations around the country. They tell their people that they're just trying to rid the country of its LIBERAL influences. We all know that in a two party system, removing one of the parties from political influence leaves one party and one party alone to run the show.
What these idiots don't realize is that once the liberal faction is removed, their protections will cease to be, democracy as we know it will no longer exist, and all those evangelicals and wannabe entrepreneurs will wonder what the hell happened to their country, too little, too late. |

26. We may not be able to rid the fascists from our midsts
But we sure as hell can incarcerate every single one of them that can be proven to have participated (and continue to participate) in the coup attempt. Long-term penalties that remove them from society and send a message to anyone thinking about trying it again.
Next step is to stem the propaganda flow which has tripped up so many fools in this country. |
