U.S. Political Party Preferences Shifted Greatly During 2021

I don't place 100% faith in the accuracy of polls, but they do generally show trends. Folks, we need to GOTV like our democracy depends on it, because it does!!!

snip

the general stability for the full-year average obscures a dramatic shift over the course of 2021, from a nine-percentage-point Democratic advantage in the first quarter to a rare five-point Republican edge in the fourth quarter

These results are based on aggregated data from all U.S. Gallup telephone surveys in 2021, which included interviews with more than 12,000 randomly sampled U.S. adults.

Both the nine-point Democratic advantage in the first quarter and the five-point Republican edge in the fourth quarter are among the largest Gallup has measured for each party in any quarter since it began regularly measuring party identification and leaning in 1991.

2. I believe this poll... because a person is smart, but people are dumb. Sorry, but it has to be said.

We have a collective memory that is worse than a goldfish.

And Democrats didn't deliver a lot of what was promised, that is on us, so the oh-so-glorious two-party system process of elimination means we go back to the crazy Trump cult party of "transgender people are devils" and putting bleach and UV light up your rectum.

"Greatest, bestest fried chicken! Joe's a socialist. Pick up the mesquite fries too!"

"AFH Co. had great earnings! Presser tomorrow on Division X! Joe's gotta go! Sure to skyrocket by weekend!"

Don't know how you fight it. Report spam and misleading, but do they do anything?

5. Yes, the mainstream/corporate media has undermined Biden and the Dems in more ways that I can count.

Sometimes I think that the greatest fear of the oligarchs is that they won't get invited to the "best" parties if they actually practiced unbiased journalism. For example, it looks like Boris Johnson wanting to party with the hoity toity of London might ruin him. Am I crazy?

.... for Democrats who are changing their stripes because Joe Biden does not measure up for them, while failing to see the big picture. Simply too shallow to understand that a trump win in 2024 would probably be the end of democracy as we know it. Dumb is not exclusive to one party.

6. The shift was mainly in the "lean D" and "lean R" responses by the 42% who are Independents

There was only a 2% drop in the Democrats.

I should have known better than to not do a little research before posting. What I should have said instead of Democrats? The people who should know better.
