I am seeing stuff everywhere.
It's such a great change to be able to celebrate a wonderful person.
People are raising money everywhere to benefit animals in her memory.

(10,789 posts)I sure could never bring myself to shoot one. If I were so fired up about it that I felt I needed to do something, it would be to catch them and take them to the animal shelter. That's harder than shooting them, of course, but I'd think you'd sleep better at night.

(6,830 posts)Neighbor's little girls brought a home-made dog collar over this morning. Their mom is allegoric, so they sometimes come over to play with our dog. I thought the gift was a random kind of thing, but now I know there was a reason for it. Ugliest green-yarn collar on the planet, but the dog likes it, so I think it stays.

But we threw in a little extra this month for Betty.

(4,464 posts)I don't think his day should be displaced by attention to the celebration of a white person who though loved, didn't have as profound effect on the world as he did. Maybe I missed something, but today is about MLK.

(4,464 posts)But you didn't say it was Betty White's birthday. You said it was Betty White "day". Ok. It's Martin Luther King day, and it's also Betty White's birthday. Got it!

(130,533 posts)It's the 3rd Monday in January, which most years will be a different date. It won't be on 1/17 again until 2028. I think we can mange to celebrate both, even if every six years the celebration happens to fall on the same date.

(29,341 posts)But even though we're vaxed and boosted my friend and I decided sitting in a theater with no distancing or mask requirement was not the smartest thing we could do.
I did donate to Last Hope, a rescue group several family members have gotten dogs from.
