(58,374 posts)It's a great way to get out and talk with people while getting exercise.
It won't take the place of your wife but it will distract you from your loneliness, and exercise increases serotonin levels.

I agree that getting out and exercising, if you can, will help your mental state. But otherwise, places like this and other social media can make a (poor, I know) substitute.
I haven't seen any family members for over two years, and I see friends rarely, but luckily I work remotely and everyone is pretty good about keeping in contact.
