Democrats and civil-rights advocates were devastated when Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema blocked a change in Senate rules last night and allowed a Republican filibuster to kill crucial voting-rights legislation.

But for activists, the long battle over voter protections hasn’t been entirely in vain: It’s fundamentally changed the center of gravity in the Democratic Party to the point where those two holdouts a

paying attention knew those two DINOs were going to vote with the republicans. They've been saying it for months. It was no surprise.

I keep seeing this claim, and it doesn't really look to me like it's to our advantage. What am I missing?

We used the filibuster in the last few years of Trump. Thank god for small miracles. Imagine if we didn’t have it. Manchin and Sinema are not against voting rights but are for allowing the minority voice to be heard in DC

And it allows them to KNOW we won't do it during our term in power. It's a win win for them, a lose lose for us.

Do it constantly and post the results like your life depends on it. Remember, Republicans and Manchinema are the problem. Hang it on their necks or bury your head in the sand.

Angry. As Eric Holder said - we have to quickly change the playbook for 2022. Right now.

It won't come from the Demcoratic Party - or Democratic Socialists. NAACP needs to quickly start training field operatives on voter registration.

My branch is meeting about it this weekend.

Yes - HR1 and HR4 were going to impact many Americans - but where it's going to COUNT this year -

Black Voters. Mitch showed his hand. He spit in our faces. So black folks need to get out there and dominate at the polls this year. We have no choice - and this political football for different factions of elected officials - is our job to take the air out of it.

We do that by organizing, getting angry, and getting up in the grill of 'Americans'.
