A thread elsewhere here about Katie Porter's latest appearance on Laurence O'Donnell's show reminded me how much I like her style and how much I'd love to see her get elected to higher office. She is one kick-butt Democrat and a firebrand, of which we can use more. But so is AOC. So here's the question -- Who would you prefer to run for higher office -- Katie or AOC? (And to add a postcript to answer some of the comments, my inspiration for the thread was that the two have different styles.)

(11,851 posts)Yeah, I'd love to see both. It's just a question of which one you'd like most.

(9,943 posts)No choice unless they were up for the same position and I doubt they would go for that. Both are necessary to our country.

(14,379 posts)AOC seems like she is headed to the Senate someday whereas Porter seems like she could either end up in the Senate or possibly being a Cabinet member heading up some federal Department. Both would make excellent an president, though.

I'm so impressed with their legislative records, and how they communicate in a way that bridges divides, speaks truth to power, and get things done in spite of deep rooted resistance to them even being 'Americans' (hat tip to #MitchPlease who told me what he thinks of me).

(11,851 posts)I really like both of them (honest!!), as many in this thread do. I just wondered who is your preference.

Give AOC a few years. Shes got plenty of time to do great things.

(96,882 posts)She could take a stab a citywide office, but the results of the 2021 races wouldn't seem promising.
I don't know enough about Porter to make a judgement.
