All the workers at a Jimmy John's in central Florida quit.
Store managers posted a sign blaming the temporary closure on the labor shortage.
But workers responded with a sign of their own: "There IS no labor shortage! The owners of this establishment treated workers like dogs."

(76,701 posts).... pictures sicken me. If the man wants to "kill things" that bad we have a white tail deer
population in America that really needs thinned and there are lots of charities that will take
the meat. Elephants live as families for 3 to 4 generations, really do talk to each other, can
communicate over 50 miles with low rumbles, mourn their dead, and show real joy in playing
with each other and a FEW HUMANS that they see as friends.
i wish everybody could see the pictures of that asshole and boycott his businesses.

I'm all for boycotts that are done for the right reasons, but they should be based on accurate facts, not outdated misinformation.
Thanks again for setting the record straight.

(1,910 posts)When did DU become Brietbart left? Just go off half cocked with zero research? The sign could be real, or not. If it is the other franchises have nothing to do with it. They are all different hard working people. And the man in the photos sold his shares years ago and has nothing to do with the company.

(673 posts)As a scoutmaster in a rural mountain area, and a non hunter, many parents were afraid that I would promote a non hunting message to my scouts. My rule to them was, "if you kill it you eat it". Ergo, if you do not plan on eating it, don't kill it. For many residents in the area, deer meat was their only source of meat. Historically that is why people hunt, to provide food for the family, or food for the community. There nothing worse to many hunters that I know, to find a dead deer in the woods and the rest of tho deer still laying there. People that kill just to kill should be drawn and quartered. Every real hunter hates you. Yes thinking about you TFG Jr.
Unfortunately for me , the are no nearby Jimmy Jones to not go to.

(1,910 posts)They are independent hard working franchise owners. This guy sold his shares years ago and has no involvement with the company anymore.
Fine if people do not like the food but do not lie and say an animal killer owns the company when he does not anymore.
Maybe the sign is BS, maybe not. But its one franchise owner. The rest should not be punished. This is so wrong.

His message has repeatedly been. Do not jump to conclusions based on wrong information.
He is correct.
You can search up who owns that particular franchise and make your judgment based on that information, but that is not what is happening here.
There was a picture posted on the forum, with no context and then linked to a photo of that guy, who has nothing to do with the restaurants anymore.
There is a correction on the information though. The chain does franchise, but is owned by Inspire Brands, who also owns Buffalo Wild Wings, Arby's. Sonic, and others.

The owners are independent franchise owners. They have nothing to do with the guy in the photos. And nothing to do with the one location in Pittsburgh.

(1,910 posts)Geez, take this nonsense down. Why are we becoming such a mess of false information?? This guy had not been actively involved in Jimmy John's for 10 years, finally sold his remaining shares 3 years ago. He has NOTHING to do with the company.
I have several friends who own a franchise. They treat their employees like gold and work super hard.
How dare you folks blast an entire company, harm their business, and the guy is not even involved with the company and has not been for years.
Wow, just wow! Even if the sign is accurate, that is one franchise. Why try to destroy all the other franchise owners and their employees????
Jon King
(1,910 posts)I have reported this thread for hateful content against the hard working franchise owners. Who even knows if the sign is accurate. Even if so it would be one franchise owners among hundreds.
The guy in the photo does not own the company. He sold his remaining shares years ago.
Take down this hate thread!!!!

(19,678 posts)for being an awful human and, assuming the pic is truthful, that franchise owner. Franchised businesses are only as good as the local owner. And a shame that one bad/absent owner can so severely impact the good, responsible owners. I think part of our reaction is coming from compassion/ support for all low paid service/fast food workers that are so susceptible to being underpaid and under protected.

(85 posts)When did franchise OWNERS become a protected class against hate?
Or have you assumed that your experience with some friends ( assuming you have the entire story) is universal and thus should be extended universally. That all franchise owners are the same as your friends, who we are to assume on your hearsay are swell guys.
And what does that have to do with the OP?

(11,767 posts)OR at least, we should be very selective and absolutely sure of the Full Story, when we launch invectives at people and threaten a boycott of an entire brand.
We have no context and no proof that this is even a real situation.

The damned "hardworking franchise owners" don't even live in FL, let alone the CFL area.

Or is it much more likely they knew Exactly what a fucking scumbag outfit they were buying into.
Btw, most franchises after the first few years were directed to original franchisees who worked with the FUCKING scumbag.
With that knowledge Im not sure why you would defend these people, because I am 99 percent confident that this location knew exactly what they were buying.

They all need to stop, but don't think it all happened to one guy named Vick oh wait....it did...so it kinda is all connected by the one guy involved in all of it.
pecosbob
(8,345 posts)but before you put away your pitch-forks, the company has poured fat cash into fighting minimum wage increases in recent years. The primary owner is the Roark Group (spoiler: the company was named after a character created by Ayn Rand). These ARE bad guys and they are every bit worth your boycott.

Simple due diligence by the OP or the alerting party could have made this less dumb.

(6,355 posts)were calling in and stalking a very large elk. Its not an easy hunt especially with stalking an elk with a bow. So long story short, these group of guys get run off the state hunting grounds by goons of Jimmy Johns owner who kills big game and isnt worthy of being called a hunter. They literally set the shot of the elk using a high powered rife and a tripod. Fat slob Jimmy John owner gets out of truck he is being driven around in, hobbles 50 feet to the tripod and gun and pulls the trigger killing this magnificent bull elk. As a former deer hunter it made me sick. He must have had 12 or more goons with him intimidating and pushing other hunters out of a public hunting area. Apparently, this particular elk was known by locals because of its trophy rack. Gives hunters a bad name and kisses the bow hunters off as well.
