Hell hath no fury like an Elon Musk scorned by the government.
The ever-contentious Tweeter took to the social-media platform on Thursday to hit back at the Biden administration after the President spoke about the future of electric vehicles in America and seemed to have left Musks Tesla off the list of impactful companies.
I meant it when I said the future was going to be made right here in America, Bidens original Tweet said. Companies like GM and Ford are building more electric vehicles here at home than ever before.
Musk negged back at him spelling out the letters of Tesla, pointing out that the POTUS had forgotten to mention the name of his company when talking about electric vehicles.

Problem is most people can't afford a Tesla.
On edit more Musk whining
Elon Musk says California's insurance commissioner should be 'voted out of office' over car insurance prices
Elon Musk said on Thursday that Ricardo Lara, California's insurance commissioner, should be "voted out of office" over car insurance prices.
-snip-
On the topic of Tesla Insurance, Musk said in the earnings call: "We are pushing very hard for California to change the rules to allow informatics, which basically means that you're as safe as you're driving is measured."
-snip-
Lara tweeted later: "Push all you want, but we won't bend on protecting consumer data, privacy and fair rates." Lara added in a follow-up tweet that California state has only allowed vehicle data to work out miles driven by each person.
In response, the Tesla CEO tweeted: "You should be voted out of office," adding in a later tweet: "Your policies are directly responsible for the outrageously high insurance premiums paid by Californians."

(151,269 posts)Really? It's not. But, you go right ahead and alienate the very people who are buying electric cars to help with climate change. That's, you know, a really smart business strategy.

(151,269 posts)together on EVs, Tesla will have great difficulty selling its cars for more money than someone can pay to buy one of the other brands.
Tesla is the current Studebaker of automobile manufacturers. Studebaker broke some interesting design ground in the late 1950s, but failed anyhow. It simply couldn't compete. Many other auto manufacturers fell victim to the same fate and for the same reason.

(24,876 posts)He owns around 175 million shares of Tesla stock, which is where the majority of his net worth lies.
Tesla is trading at $830/share today.
175,000,000 X 830 = $145,250,000,000.
Tesla would have to get to $5715 per share for him to have a Trillion dollar net worth.
Tesla might have a Market Capitalization of over a trillion (actually, today it is at $835 B), but Musk can't claim that at all, not by a very long shot.

Looks like there are plenty of customers that can afford a Tesla, despite the naysayers. Both VW's ID.4 and Ford's Mach-e Mustang are in the same price range as Tesla's Model 3.
Tesla will survive and thrive.
Musk may be acting like an asshole, but Teslas are quite exceptional vehicles.
