Don't trust big meteorology: [Twitter]

James Hamblin
@jameshamblin

So we're all supposed to "prepare for blizzard conditions" just because the scientific establishment and the media say so? And anyone who says it will be sunny and 70 is canceled?
All's I'm saying is, lots of $ changing hands in snow shovel industry. Do your own meteorology.

Still gauging our activities on our "woollie bear," a 7-day Bushnell indoor weather station on the wall in the kitchen (Bushnell hasn't made these AccuWeather supported devices for some years, and one can't find any that display even a rough estimate of an icon-driven 7-day forecast anymore from any mfg!--I'm going to be clueless when it no longer works or goes offline!) and the "Sensor Network" readings from nearby full personal outdoor stations via wunderground.com.

These people who pretend to be so “confused” by CDC guidelines have been dealing with percentages of chances of rain all their lives. And predictions often change from hour to hour. Do they call their local weatherman a liar?

central land-locked city, and the folks there made fun of my guy's red/black buffalo plaid wool winter jacket...hardly anyone there wore anything more than windbreaker. We moved once more, and thankfully Buckeye fans realized the value of a warm outdoor jacket and thermals as long as the "colors" were licensed - and NOT navy blue and maize! Of course, there's still a few big guys wearing nothing but face-paint, beads, and a loincloth...

Seems like the TV is always on The Weather Channel. Their predictions are pretty accurate, from what I've seen. The idea that weather forecasting is mere "guesswork" is ignorant and asinine...

I live in central Pa. so I don't need to run out and buy a snow shovel, I already have a couple of shovels, a snow blower, and ice scraper, and very expensive pet friendly salt. I appreciate the weather forecasts.

Hanging out at a friend’s house in an altered state of consciousness, one fellow stood at the window and observed, ‘it’s raining.’ From out of nowhere, my reply came: ‘are you a meteorologist or just a know-it-all?’ The raucous response from the room was enough to fuel my ego toward an amateur career as a big-mouthed smartass.

I asked if they were "human beans", which made everyone in my family laugh hysterically. I actually said it as a joke, but played dumb after they laughed so hard.

Edit: Maybe I was 4 or 5 years old, and not a toddler? Not sure now.

He claimed The Weather Channel was creating climate change fears in order to goose the ratings and make those big Weather Channel advertisement sales.

would abandon science.

We must cancel meteorology. That means snipping it in the bud by eliminating meteorology departments in universities, destroying all books on weather prediction, and erasing all computer programs that predict weather. They have taken the human out of the art of prediction.

We need a total reset on meteorology. Let's go back to Biblical principles and build some tools that work.

"... the weather in Ohio, just wait 5 minutes and it will change."

The meteorologists around here provide pretty decent predictions about those short-term changes, though.

It will always be a struggle to predict the weather (unlike long-term climate tendencies) too far in advance, of course, because of Chaos Theory.

to newcomers, we do indeed have four seasons. Often all on the same day. And we do not have summer and winter wardrobes, ours are morning, afternoon, and evening.

It is 60 today. Last week it was 60 one day, 22 the next. Typical.
