Hoping to get some coffee recommendations Have been drinking Kirkland Colombia Supremo for years, but I just ran out. I just can't handle Costco anymore, so have been trying some from supermarket. Today I tried Peet's dark roast Italian...pretty tasteless. Bought Peet's med.
roast Brazil, single origin for tomorrow.
Any suggestions? Either whole bean or ground is okay. Thanks

(34,973 posts)So, lots of choices. Their whole bean, organic varieties are very good, and at a great price.

(34,973 posts)I still prefer them if given a choice, because no matter how airtight I keep it, the ground stuff gets oxidized, and the bottom third or so of the bag just isn't as good. The whole beans tend to stay fresher longer.

I just bought it to try and I like it.

(34,973 posts)Some of the grocery stores here carry Kauai brand, but the whole bean is hard to come by. I like the dark roast, but that's also hard to find.

(29,233 posts)And don't forget Cafe Bustelo if you like it dark and strong.
My favorites of all time are Nicaraguan SHG and an unidentified home roast from Yemen that were pure Caramel.
There was also a pretty good local roaster Oakcliff Coffee Roaster who do an Ethiopian that is pure blueberry in natural flavor .

I used to try several types of coffee brands made from Arabica beans (which I learned long ago that I preferred), but Kroger's always remained my favorite.
Kroger often just slaps their label on some popular commercial brand for their generic items, but I never discovered what they used for their Colombian coffee.

(34,973 posts)Especially the Gran Selezione dark roast, which is rain forest certified, for whatever that's worth. I always grab some when it's on sale, whether or not I need coffee. Most of what's available in the grocery stores is ground, but some carry the medium roast as whole bean.

(59,927 posts)I usually do Gran Aroma or the cans.
GoCubsGo
(34,973 posts)Not everyone carries it. It can be pricey. I can only afford it when it's on a big sale.

(17,478 posts)My daughter had a conference in New Orleans recently, and brought me a can of grounds from Café Du Monde. I think you might be able to find it at Whole Foods.
Basically, I tend to like coffee that has chicory in it. For a fairly inexpensive option Chock Full of Nuts makes a nice cup.
The French Roast at LIDL is pretty good and reasonable.
For beer, if you are ever near the Great Lakes region, ANY beer from Great Lakes Brewery out of Cleveland is outstanding!

We have used it for a while, but I also like the old regular Folgers Classic Roast.

(103,729 posts)I like some of the African coffees but South and Central American beans are good too. I prefer a full bodied medium roast and I make it in a porcelain drip cone - totally unapologetic coffee snob.

(61,881 posts)home roasting is easy, fun, cost effective, a great hobby - and once you do it, no purchased coffee tasted as good.
Charbucks and Peets (most of their beans, anyway) have the regional characteristics burned away.
Kenya, Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda my favorites

(25,725 posts)Is it just too crowded for you now? If so you can always use the website. Costco is a great employer pays well has good benefits has less turnover than almost any other retail company in the world because they're good employers.
