Back in the real world, the Justice Department announced on Tuesday it was investigating the Trump campaigns bogus elector slate scheme, which has quickly become a focus of the House select committee investigating Jan. 6. The scheme began in December 2020 and involved Republicans in seven states sending Congress forged and fraudulent alternate electoral slates naming Donald Trump the winner of the presidential election.
Like the Justice Departments Jan. 13 indictment of 11 Oath Keepers on charges of seditious conspiracy and the Jan. 6 committees subpoena surge, this Justice Department announcement represents another milestone toward full accountability. Importantly, revelation of the phony electoral slates, together with a newly unearthed draft executive order that would have directed the Defense Department to confiscate voting machines, highlights the existence of something we have been calling Plan A.

(21,966 posts)Because then we'd have to expel the Democrats who voted to overturn the 2000, 2004, and 2016 elections (even though it was justified in 2000 and 2016). As bad as it sounds, lawmakers have that right to certify or not.

(51,134 posts)Plus, there were NOT any Democratic lawmakers voting "to overturn the 2000, 2004, and 2016 elections" as you say. There were objections to the 2004 Ohio electors in both the Senate and the House, forcing a debate with good cause. How Kerry Votes Were Switched To Bush Votes

If they are linked to participants they should be removed or investigated and charged for aiding and advancing the conspiracy.
