Or about how easy it is for someone to fly from abroad and within a couple of weeks get a gun to take worshipers hostages in Texas?
The sound of silence, I suppose..

(2,841 posts)It's all BLM's fault. It's the Dem's fault. They are in a cyclone if BS, misdirection, and a host of other logical fallacies. Everything is some one else's fault.

(4,131 posts)In 2021, 515 "line of duty" deaths were reported and of those, 353 were from COVID, 62 from gunfire, and 100 from the rest.
Going back 10 years earlier, in 2011, 188 "line of duty" deaths were reported. 68 were from gunfire and 120 were from the rest (obviously no COVID in 2011).
What increase in police killings are you referring to?
Also, in my experience, gun enthusiasts tend to mistrust law enforcement far more than the average person. It's true that your run of the mill Republican, and certainly some gun enthusiasts, will fly thin blue line flags and have "back the blue" signs in their front yards, but those folks are not representative of gun enthusiasts (or "gun nuts" as you wrote).
16% of Democrats personally own a firearm - 28% live in a firearm owning household.
32% of Independents personally own a firearm - 44% live in a firearm owning household.
45% of Republicans personally own a firearm - 61% live in a firearm owning household.
More than a quarter of Democrats personally own or live in a household that owns firearms. Nearly half of all Independents do.
