While Northeast is digging out of last week's blizzard, the next storm is taking aim at the South

'Tis the season for winter storms to line up like parade floats at Mardi Gras. Last week's storm would have won the prize for a winter wonderland float and this week's storm would be topped with icicles.

The historic blizzard which slammed the Northeast and New England last weekend dumped more than 2 feet of snow in some locations. Boston tied its biggest snowfall ever on any single day on Saturday, after 23.6 inches fell.

The next winter storm takes aim at the South

Now the next winter storm is on deck to strike the South and mid-South the hardest.

Places like Dallas and Memphis; I'm looking at you for this one because of the ice impact.

Time for Cruz to make his reservations.

I've been watching the weather reports, and so far
it doesn't look like Austin will undergo the kind
of deep freeze we had last year.

Fingers crossed.

1-2" rain, freezing overnight. The tough part will be 20 mph winds.

There will, undoubtedly, be thousands without power, again.

Lower Ozarks. I've got a potbelly wood stove for winter. Hoping we don't have to use it.

Stay safe my friend

NE Illinois. The NWS model shows our zip code at a 49% chance of 10-15", a 14% chance of >15", and a 25% chance of 7-10".
An 88% chance of at least 7"!
Supposed to start tomorrow night and go all the through the wee hours on Thursday. Then temperature fall 15-20 degrees.
Oh, goodie!

Just last January. Used it twice this year. One pull & vroom!
We're ready, though we're going to get a couple suppers worth the groceries early tomorrow in case plows don't keep up.

We've got three! And, since my wife can't be out there using one, we've got 3 for one person!
BTW: I only do the porch steps with a shovel. Snowblower for everything else.
I'm not hurting myself over snow!

and her husband is seriousy disabled. Luckily they have an adult daughter who can help them.

Last year they kept their power. She thinks it might be because they're near both a nursing home, and a police station.

Fingers crossed for you all. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Ice and sleet followed by more ice starts tomorrow afternoon, and not getting above freezing around Dallas on Thurs. Knowing the habits of drivers around here in even less-than-stellar weather, I'm not going to risk getting on the road with them.

will lose power. Time to fill bathtubs with water to flush your toilets. Where I live they are predicting 10 to 12 inches of snow, I can live with that as long as we don't lose power!
