Manchin hired security detail amid threats and protests

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) spent heavily on private security over the last three months of the year as he became a prime target for progressive protesters angry at his role blocking a reconciliation package in the Senate.

Filings with the Federal Election Commission show Manchin’s campaign paid more than $75,000 on an Atlanta-based private security firm in November. Reporters at the time saw Manchin being trailed by what appeared to be a private security officer as he walked the halls of the Capitol complex. A source close to Manchin told The Hill the senator and his family had been subjected to specific threats, both in Washington and in West Virginia.

Manchin had become a regular target of protesters who demanded he vote to advance the Build Back Better reconciliation measure.

Climate change protesters surrounded Manchin’s car in a parking garage in early November. In October, protesters in kayaks swarmed Manchin’s yacht, parked at a Washington marina where he lives. In August, the Poor People’s Campaign sent a convoy of more than 100 cars to Manchin’s Charleston office to urge him to vote to change Senate filibuster rules.

2. Not surprised. Consider that many Sens & Reps have hired security

For example: Rep Cori Bush claims to pay $70,000 a year for her private security, tho I'm not sure why she stated, but it isn't really unusual. Seems to be the going price for personal & family threats. Its unfortunate when political threats result in affecting family members, young or old.

I find political vigilantism offensive no matter the pro or con, when it affects innocents.

Try to keep up. Amd yes because of the Nazi party a lot of people now need security. At least until all of the criminals are behind bars where they belong.

She's reported at least 4 incidents of someone shooting her car, although she wasn't in it.

She didn't say what kind of car it was but someone sure hates it.

But you should work diligently to get the cancerous parasites voted out at the earliest possible moment. Start with the liars that claim to be a Democrat, but vote for the Republican agenda. Easy fruit. But work like hell to preserve the institution of voting.

...in a nice jail cell. People who harass elected leaders can go to hell for all I care. Vote or run for office. Speak at hearings and assemblies. Write.
