book parent wanted banned: children's picture book about the life of Black Olympian Wilma Rudolph

article also talks about "soft censorship"... librarians not buying books as prevention against attacks.

Book banning in Texas schools: Titles are pulled off library shelves in record numbers

------------------------

Another parent in Katy, a Houston suburb, asked the district to remove a children’s biography of Michelle Obama, arguing that it promotes “reverse racism” against white people, according to the records obtained by NBC News. A parent in the Dallas suburb of Prosper wanted the school district to ban a children’s picture book about the life of Black Olympian Wilma Rudolph, because it mentions racism that Rudolph faced growing up in Tennessee in the 1940s. In the affluent Eanes Independent School District in Austin, a parent proposed replacing four books about racism, including “How to Be an Antiracist,” by Ibram X. Kendi, with copies of the Bible.

A parent in Prosper, a Dallas suburb, said this illustrated children's book, which touches on the racism that Olympian Wilma Rudolph experienced growing up in Tennessee in the 1940s, should be removed from school libraries because "it opines prejudice based on race."

Wilma Rudolph was a famous athlete. People yell about cancel culture yet they want history removed away from our children.

I think it's time for the left to start using this against the right and show what a hypocritical bunch of a__holes the right really are.

Both were slave owners, so they could make modern Americans feel guilty about our country's past.

They want to be openly racist, by banning books about black people. So, they ban a picture book about a legendary black athlete, and then go and cheer for the Dallas football team, which has many black athletes. They watch movies and teevee shows made by black people, they sing songs written by black people, they eat food prepared by black people.

So, openly racist, but only at school? I don’t get it.
Sounds to me like an attack on education. Resist.

She suffered many childhood illnesses, including polio and scarlet fever. She had to wear a leg brace, and her doctors told her she would never walk again. After years of therapy, she overcame the need for braces and orthopedic shoes. She went on to become the fastest woman in the world, winning several Olympic gold medals.

and yes, it was in our school library. The way she pulled out of her childhood illnesses and became the greatest woman sprinter of the time was awe inspiring.
