Massive Brawl Breaks Out In Bensalem Golden Corral Over Alleged Steak Shortage

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) — A Friday night out turned into a melee in Bensalem at a Golden Corral restaurant. Now police are trying to figure out how it started.

A former employee of the restaurant says he was told the fight may have happened after a customer became enraged when the buffet ran out of steak.

Video shared with Eyewitness News shows punches being thrown and high chairs flying as a fight breaks out inside the Golden Corral in Bensalem Friday evening.

Bensalem police confirm the brawl may have involved more than 40 people and happened following an argument among some customers. Officers are still looking into what caused the argument.

“I’ve never seen nothing like that in Golden Corral before,” former employee Dylan Becker said.

But rioting over THOSE 'steaks'?
Seriously?

I had the misfortune of being at a Golden Corral once and the "food" they serve is horrifying in texture and after taste and damn near everything after one bite. Powdered potatoes. Everything in some kind of juice to prevent the heat lamps from turning everything into jerky... Just ick.

I could see rioting BECAUSE of the food, but not because you've been spared the 'pleasure' of one of those steaks with the horrible grissle and sinewy textures.

That’s the Golden Corral model. I think most folks that go there know they are getting cheap food prepared by people see their jobs as slopping the pigs. But rioting over picture menu food? I don’t get it.

The best way to handle unhappy customers (when it's your fault) is to explain, apologize, and give them a gift card to return for a free meal some other night. Usually that will solve the problem and people will leave peaceably. Why wasn't that done? I don't know.

I'm sure alcohol was involved, but this is totally irrational. It's a good reason to avoid this restaurant.

Sometimes there's just no making some people happy. I work in HVAC these days, and you can explain, apologize, and offer compensation until you're blue in the face. With some customers, nothing is ever enough, or good enough. And some of them are ready to rage out at the drop of a hat.

I've had people literally scream at my employees because their technician arrived at 4:05 pm and they were given a window of noon to 4 pm. I can explain until the eagles choke that we do our best to have techs arrive within the scheduled window, but there are times when repairs take longer than anticipated, or inclement weather slows down travel, or traffic, or whatever. They're not having it, and they're going to scream about it. There have been times when I've thought, "Wow, if that had been an in-person interaction, that guy might have taken a swing at me."

Sadly, there are a lot of very entitled, very angry people out there who just don't have the emotional and intellectual maturity to cope with it when things don't go the way they wanted or they don't get everything they expected. Their response to that situation is to lash out in fury at whoever or whatever is convenient. I suspect some of them like being angry, honestly.

With high steaks leaves customers cowed. News services try to milk incident with cheesy story. Restaurant says they will cowboy up and accept no more bull.

I tried the "Goodyear" roast, my boss had the "Michelin Steak". Went back for chicken, loaded up on veggies!
