(89,849 posts)DONT send him any Depends. He grifted more than enough off us taxpayers to be able to pay for his own. And RETAIL. NOT wholesale.

(16,155 posts)Just because you can't get the superior officer to testify, doesn't mean that the second in command can't provide valuable info.
I think Short is a Pence guy all the way and he's likely royally pissed at the way the Slobfather has treated him.

Not that short isn't doing the right thing, even if for the wrong reasons :/

(14,081 posts)Between Short, Jacob and Kellogg, a significant portion of the Pence brain trust has now cooperated with the Jan. 6 committee to what extent is still somewhat unclear.

Kellogg has apparently already paid a visit
Did they plead the fifth or speak freely?

(41,329 posts)Marc Short worked for Mike Pence as a legislative staffer, and then he became Pence's Chief of Staff.
Chump had a revolving door, everyone who worked for him either quit or got fired after a short time. (We all know the reason why.) So after John Kelly left under a cloud, Chump tried to hire Marc Short to come and work for him. Short refused, and I'm pretty sure Mike Pence didn't want to lose him either. Long story short, Chump eventually got Mick Mulvaney, who only lasted less than a year. Then he was out and Chump got Mark Meadows who lasted till the end of Chump's term, about a year.
Nobody wants to work for Chump. And whenever they do, they end up regretting it.

(41,329 posts)I'm sure he knew about the plot because he was tight with Pence for the entire time.
Pence wouldn't have kept any secrets from him, I don't think.

(18,272 posts)I think he really hates Trump because he sees him as an immoral man. But right now, he'll just keep hiding so he doesn't have to say anything bad about the GOP cult leader.
ShazzieB
(22,532 posts)Like most of the other repukes (except the few outliers like Liz Cheney who are too pissed off to care anymore), Pence is deathly afraid of offending Trump. He still has hopes of eventually running for potus and doesn't want to rock the boat if he can help it.
The irony is TFG's cult members hate him because he didn't follow orders on January 6, and almost everyone else sees him for the spineless, Trump-enabling weasel that he is, so I don't know who he thinks would vote for him.
I absolutely agree that Pence hates Trump but will avoid saying anything bad about him for as long as he can. I don't think he'll outright lie for Trump, though, and he might just end up having to throw Trump under the bus whether he wants to or not. Even though he resisted actively complying with the plot to screw up the electoral vote certification, he also passively stood aside while Trump schemed to invalidate a fair election that ALL of the states had signed off on. He might have to testify against his dear leader before it's all said and done.

(9,714 posts)BFD if that alienates the Trump base. Essentially he's ALREADY alienated that base. Why not own what he did and campaign on WHY he did it? I mean, no way Mike Pence would ever get the nomination, but hey, if he played his cards right he might appeal to the Liz Cheney element of the GOP.

isnt stupid enough to think he can win the votes of people who chanted hang Mike Pence. Well, I guess he is stupid enough, but I dont think hes expecting that miracle.
I dont know what his motivation is, but its not a fear of rejection by the base. That ship has sailed.
