Why Do The Cable News Stations Keep Saying That TFG Is The....

front runner for the 2024 Repug nomination for president?

I haven't heard of any other Repug that has declared that they are running for the nomination.

Why are they giving TFG that kind of attention?

It's true that he's the current front runner. It's simply a fact.

Obviously a lot can change as time goes on, but it's pretty clear that the reason no major Republican has declared they'll run for President is they're all assuming Trump will run, and they don't want to oppose him until if and when they are certain he won't run.

There's all sorts of media bias I think gives Trump and Republicans an undeserved advantage, but calling Trump the front runner for the Republican nomination isn't an example of that.

If any Republican does announce any time soon, it will probably be a strong never-Trumper, the kind of person with little hope of winning the nomination unless a dramatic wave of semi-sanity sweeps over the Republican electorate.

And they are giving him the attention because he makes money for the networks. Unfortunately, he sucks the air out of the room for everybody else.

The assumption of his die hards is that he is running again. By announcing a primary against him, you've just pissed off a very motivated base. However, if you wait and Trump decides not to run, you've lost nothing.

It's wiser to wait.

The only people you'd see make noise about it are people like Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger - both of whom would get zero traction in a Republican primary.

If Trump doesn't run, he will still be the kingmaker of the party. So whether or not many Republican run will be entirely based on his decision.

Politics doesn't begin when a candidate "officially announces. Good analysts can tell by fundraising, spending and political activity who's laying the groundwork for a Presidential run:

Trump
DeSantis
Abbott
Christie
Cotton
Haley
Noem
Pompeo
Scott (SC)
Scott (FL)

Now many of them won't announce if Trump does, which is why Trump is mentioned as front-runner.

He is hoping that Trump will choke on a chicken wing sometime in the next three years, and then D will praise the former great president all the way to the White House. If Trump doesn't cooperate, he may run anyway, in which case Trump will have always been an ineffective dunce and a general heel.

As of today, I think that the news reporting is accurate. Trump is certainly running hard with no announced opposition, so he is, by default, the front runner for the Republican nomination.
