Colbert talking about his wife... next level feels!

And some of the responses to the tweet are heart-wrenching and beautiful, like this exchange between two strangers:

It's gonna be 1 year this month that I lost my husband. He speaks the truth. I've never been so lost in my life.

I understand your pain. I lost my husband more than 22 years ago and can tell you the pain dulls but never goes away. I heard his voice some months after he died and he said, “walk this earth for me” and that’s what I’m doing.

I'm trying to go on. It's so hard. But for my family, I know I never would of made it this long. I'm sorry for your loss.

You will find joy again, even during these trying times. Hang in there, hug your family and friends, and thoughts of your husband will give you strength. Thinking of my husband brings a smile to my face now instead of tears to my eyes. I think he’d like that!

It is getting a little easier, I can talk about him without tears to others. It's the alone time that is heart breaking. Thank you again.

Mom was very ill and she wanted to go, but Dad wouldn't/couldn't let her.

He finally left us at age 94 on February 27 and Mom followed him (age 90) on March 23. Easter morning.

They had been married 66 years.
