Sen. Kyrsten Sinema has a higher approval rating among Republicans than Democrats in Arizona: poll

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona may be a Democrat, but many Democrats in her state don't approve of the job she's doing — while Republicans are saying the opposite.

Fresh polling from Morning Consult has found that 55% of Arizona Republicans approve of the work she's doing as a lawmaker, while only 43% of Democrats and 35% of independents say the same. In fact, 45% of Democrats say they outright disapprove of Sinema.

On the flip side, Sinema's support among Republicans has grown by 20 percentage points just in the last year, after 67% of Democrats and 35% of Republicans said they approved of the job she was doing in early 2021.

Sinema's growing approval among Republicans, which is corroborated by recent polling by Data for Progress, comes after that same polling outlet found that the first-term Democrat is increasingly vulnerable to a primary challenge, particularly from Rep. Ruben Gallego.

pushing the theme that Sinema and Manchin need to be primaried is not a particularly wise strategy, and should instead focus on going seats in the Senate that are up for election in 2022

6. it doesn't make much sense, but there is a lot of momentum already on that train

Don't think a few reasonable voices are enough to stop it.

I mean, we even have a rule here to "support Democrats" but for Sinema and Manchin it's not enforced. They're the kind of Democrats we need to check on because they've run successfully in red states and we should be kinda grateful they are there. It's pretty much the Republican equivalent of having a Senator in California or NY.

If we treat them as the centrists leaning left that they are, our expectations will be in sync with reality, and we won't have to be in a state of hysteria when they aren't in lockstep with Bernie and AOC.

Highly doubt this poll was done by those that would elect her!

Here approval rating among Arizona Dems is 8%!

You can look for yourself if you want. There’s a whole page of articles about her 8% approval rating

4. The polling firm in the OP is far more respected than the 8% pollster.

Yes, there are articles -- all quoting the same poll. Whether the true figure is 43% or 8% or something else will come out in other polls as part of a trend. No one will remember these polls anyway by the time 2024 rolls around.

I have family in Phoenix that have been involved with the Democratic Party for a decade. She is totally reviled and there is NO way 30+ % of Dems in AZ back her!
