Old white guy here. It seems to me that black people and female people have this in common:

both have to be smarter and work harder in order to succeed professionally.

Is there really any genuine concern that a black woman nominated by President Biden to the SCOTUS won't be extremely well qualified?

Seriously?

The way you're phrasing this it sounds as if you want punishment, not equality and reconciliation. So like I said when we began discussing this, it sounds a lot like you're interested in vengeance. I don't particularly see how that's helpful to the cause of equality for all. Rather the reverse, in fact.

Learning how to help, and unlearning old ways is another.
Eating your peas is doesn’t mean they should be punished. It is dealing with how one feels about their past. It could be shame or self anger. Those feelings could form the basis of future actions.

I’m not a big fan of should.

Malcom X and George Wallace became enlightened, and became better men. Malcom became enlightened on the Haj when he prayed alongside white Muslims. He could no longer see whites as the devil. George became wheelchair bound during his run for president against Nixon. The was paralyzed by a gun wielding would be assassin, Arthur Bremen. During his rehab, he was nursed by a black man. The unconditional love and care given to him melted his heart. He disavowed his hate.

BTW one of my school chums was George Wallace’s nephew. He never changed his racist views, even after his uncle’s revelation.

Especially since Trump put Amy Coney-Barrett up for nomination and many of the judges that were put up for lower courts were considered by the ABA to be "unqualified" for their appointments.

What we have with respect to the Conservative "concern" is just your standard racism. All of the idiots are our talking about how President Biden is "discriminating" against others to pick a Black Woman as if President Biden would just haul some random, high school graduate with no legal experience, Black Woman and put her on the court.

All of the women that are on President Biden's short list are extremely qualified and many have already been through the process of appointment and voted on by both Democrats and Republicans. As Jen Psaki said today, there were never any objections raised when Conservative presidents stated their intentions to put women on the bench. There is no real history of challenging the qualifications of candidates before their names are even submitted. If Conservatives have specific objections after they know the nominee, then that can be a valid thing. Right now it is just the fact that Black women are being looked at exclusively (or likely, at all) is the problem for Conservatives.
