but I really think that some other bands should be given serious consideration for what they have also done for music, let's say Ten Years After, Uriah Heep for example, even writing to said organization was a disappointment, just maybe the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should go back into the archives of the King Biscuit Flower Hour or how it was originally named King Biscuit Time and listened to some music or even go back into the Legendary Beaker Street Radio Show, where a lot of people got there first hearing of music from artist and groups that helped some of these artists and groups to where they are now....
Also for those that do not know this, you have to have been in the industry for over 20+ years to be eligible for the hall, those two bands meet that qualification and much more, and yes they need more woman in the Hall I think of one Patsy Cline and many more, Joan Baez, Brandi Carlile.....

After decades of too often slighting female artists, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is seeking to make up for lost time for the second year in a row. The 2022 list of nominees, announced Wednesday morning, includes Dolly Parton and Carly Simon, both on the ballot for the first time, along with repeat nominees Dionne Warwick, Kate Bush, Pat Benatar and Eurythmics, the long-defunct U.K. duo headed by vocal powerhouse Annie Lennox. Parton is in a rare class. Fewer than a dozen other country music artists have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Only one of them, Brenda Lee, was also a ...

(24,695 posts)Dr. Strange
(25,921 posts)Which makes sense, considering how Rush liked to perform their concerts in the summer, and how when Donna Summer walked on stage to perform, she was often in a rush.

(2,113 posts)Don't get me wrong, I think Dolly Parton is a national treasure, but "Rock and Roll", she is NOT. Neither is Donna Summer, who was inducted in 2013; neither is Jay-Z, who was inducted in 2021, just to name a couple.
On top of that, how are the following Rock and Roll bands overlooked: Styx, Judas Priest, Def Leppard?
They should just make it the Music Hall of Fame.

(20,849 posts)The Guess Who or at least Randy Bachman, the Monkeys . . . it's pretty clear the Rock And Roll Hall isn't interested in getting more 60-70 stars in before they die. I'm not sure why, but it's clear these people are all dying without even nominations.

So ... Uriah Heep?
C'mon man.
I'd also really not have put the Moody Blues (and definitely not J. Geils) in before any of the above bands.

(1,603 posts)How Big Star and Pixies aren't in the Hall already is baffling to me. And Dolly too for that matter. I'd also like to see Alice in Chains, Uncle Tupelo and Wilco get in, although the first two may be long shots.
I do disagree on Moodys though - I think their inclusion was earned--yeah, some of the spoken word stuff was a tad cheesy, but they also had some beautiful under-the-radar tunes as well as an ancillary benefit- they inspired a whole generation of punks to pick up guitars in protest of said cheese!
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)As such, yes ... I think they are ABSOLUTELY deserving of induction. Kinda doubt it happens, however.
Also a big Tweedy/Wilco fan ... but I'm pretty confident Wilco will eventually make it in.
I would not complain about AiC either. I think they're worthy.
I'd also be a big supporter of Bob Mould getting in.

(9,988 posts)They really don't get hard rock and heavy metal at all, I think. Much less indie rock.
Even if they don't understand the music (their loss), Judas Priest absolutely should get in because Rob Halford was the first big metal star to come out as gay, and that took SO MUCH GUTS in the 90s.

(3,635 posts)That's a slap in the face to generation-X.... RATM revolutionized rock by blending punk rock, hip hop and leftwing themes - and by capturing the rage and desperation that many youth felt in the wake of Reaganism.

(10,426 posts)Pat Benatar has been nominated at least 3 times but hasn't gotten in. But Dionne Warwick? Maybe R&B HOF. Dolly is a saint, but she's not a rock musician.
