savings are up too because people are not spending as much money on restaurants, entertainment shopping, less auto costs for people working at home etc. Lifestyles changed

After January 6th, anyone supporting Trump is either a brainwashed fool, or a liar. It's like debating a defiant toddler or a religious fanatic. Both are futile.

And they think it because it's been drilled into their heads day and night from media, friends and clergy. They believe what they want.

end of year in tax return. Also from what I understand, starting 2021 it start regressing back for the lower income people while rich continue with tax breaks. Something like.

My in-laws gave me the same line. I asked them to prove it, because by my calculations based on what I knew of them, that was very unlikely. They wouldn't, of course.

They SAY it's about money, but in the end, it's really about "sticking it to the libs." They've just been convinced that "winning" is what matters here. Not policy. Not the success of the country. Just beating "them."

That couldn't be mitigated unless I had taken the $100 or so extra tax "savings" and any stimulus payments I had and sat on them until time to pay taxes. And since TFG's new Tax plan was so poorly and confusingly written, it was difficult to figure out what needed to be paid until the taxes were due. Heck, the tax companies couldn't advise until the IRS finalized the rules in the middle of the January filing season.
2019 tax.season was when I started owing, and 2020 tax season was rough. I only "broke even" that year if I counted the stimulus checks and had saved them instead of using them to pay down bills.
I had to change my withholdings in 2021 to add $150 to federal, and I still ended up owing the feds over $1k this year.
Thanks to TFG and his "tax breaks".
The taxable household income was between $60 and $80k for the last two years. Not rich.
