7. I agree, he's nowhere near the same level of evil that Limbaugh was.

Yes, Rogan is a vile, rotten scumbag and nobody should listen to him. But so far he hasn't destroyed lives and turned families against each other the way that Rush did and Hannity does. He's nowhere near that level. At least not yet.

14. He's just as bad in perhaps a different way

in that everyone "knew" what the deal was with limbaugh--hard-right hate talker.

rogan, OTOH, is smoother and more insidious in that he presents himself as more apolitical and "just having interesting conversations", also a younger, "bro" type, so lures in all these uninformed young guys who then get sucked into the lies and propaganda.

Just as evil.

9. Am I mis-remembering, or did Rogan have a small "fan-base" here at DU?

I recall that there were more than a few rushing to his defense on some matter (but I've forgotten the specifics) ... it may very well have been another internet site entirely, but it seems like it was here.

Anyway, I'm just wondering what those who defended him are now saying to justify his dangerous misinformation.

A dangerous Trump/Rush like personality. Guess he got Putin’s check.

... and I remember thinking how bizarre it was. Maybe he had at one time supported or spoken favorably about some popular liberal politician or something. The specifics are hard to recall, but the hypocrisy remains vivid.

15. I think Rogan would fall under the libertarian umbrella

like those other libertarians the Kochs. He has many of the same "rugged individualism I did everything myself with no help from anyone" beliefs. And, he hated Hillary and basically all dems because he does not believe that government has a role to serve except defense and police. With that said, he is very fluid in his interviews but the core libertarian belief system is always just under the surface. I think Rush would tell lies knowing they were lies, Joe tells lies and believes them because he read somewhere that it was true and there was an "outsider" expert that backed up his belief. He thinks he is smart because he knows some basic stuff and then infers his own genius through his choices for his interviews. In short, he is one of those know-it-all dicks that thinks he is the smartest person in the room but carefully never says that directly while completely dismissing the actual smartest people in the room.
