IMO the IOC/IPC are irredeemably corrupt and politicized and betray their supposed ideals/purpose at every turn, and the event coverage available in the US via NBC is nauseating and unwatchable.

If other people like watching it, I don't begrudge their interest or enjoyment, but if someone on DU were to create a magical Olympics thread that successfully drew all would-be Olympics posts into it like a black hole... I wouldn't complain.

One of the BEST parts of the opening ceremony for me was when the camera caught Pootie-Poot sitting all by himself, alone, and fast asleep! LOLOL I laughed so much!

I would like an Olympics thread, BUT I won't be able to post with you because I'm in Pacific time and most of you appear to be in Eastern or Central time, so I'll be watching later. In fact, I will need to stay out until I've watched so I won't get SPOILED about winners.

It would be nice to have a thread. Some people will still make separate posts, though. And far too many will SCREAM spoilers right in their thread titles. I will need to stay away all day on figure skating days until I've finished watching my events. LOL But I would like to have a thread for the Olympics.

If one gets started, someone please post a link here for me! Thanks.
