Elderly Florida Democrats Say GOP Canvassers Duped Them Into Changing Party Affiliation

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/florida-democrats-party-affiliation-changed-republican-canvassers-1294703/

Residents of a public housing building in Miami say their voter registrations were unknowingly changed from Democrat to Republican after being visited by GOP canvassers, WPLG Local 10 News reported on Wednesday. The vice chair of the state Senate’s Ethics and Elections Committee told Rolling Stone on Thursday that she is requesting an investigation.
“Is this something that is happening in other places?” state Sen. Annettte Taddeo, a Democrat, said over the phone after the leaving the Senate floor on Thursday. “I don’t know, that’s the reason for the request for the investigation. We need to know if this is an entire program they’ve been doing.”

The report follows a December story about an unidentified 84-year-old woman in the same complex, Haley Sofge Towers, who was duped last fall. WPLG Local 10 News confirmed that the woman’s party affiliation was changed by a third-party voter registration organization, which regularly canvas neighborhoods to help people register to vote, and that the third-party organization was the Republican Party of Florida. The woman’s granddaughter says she and her grandmother discovered the change when her grandmother received a new voter registration card in the mail, and that neither gave permission for the party change.

I hope there's an investigation, because it looks like there already is voter fraud, and it's not the Democrats who are committing it.

In Florida if you want to vote in the Democratic primary you have to be a registered Democrat. Same for Republican primaries. Any party affiliation must be completed 29 days prior to the primary election.

Any state with closed primaries whether party affiliation registration is required or not it is a public record of which primary you vote in. In some states, you can request a Democratic or Republican ballot in a primary election without being registered. The public would still be able to know which primary ballot you voted.

If Republicans are spending time and money on such trickery, you can bet that they have done their homework to determine that it is detrimental to the Democratic Party.

I saw it happen to a neighbor, preacher no less. You can guess which Church he belonged to. A close neighbor. The head Judge a good Republican. challenged him. Made him sign that he switched parties. Wanted to vote for Obama in the primary.

Republicans are getting desperate. I heard this morning only 1 in 10 Republicans are now for Trump.

Not all states with closed primaries require party affiliation registration.

Here in Indiana we do not register with party affiliation. And we can go to the polling place in the primary and request the ballot of our choice.

Nobody walks into a voting booth and says “we’ll.. I was going to vote for Biden… but I just noticed that I’m a Republican. What was I thinking???”

But I’d bet that the party pays then for every Republican registration.

Puts the recent supposed shift in registrations by party in a new light.

Good PR + demoralizing to Dems.
Also create confusion at the Polls. Again good good PR- beat down on poll workers, cries of voter fraud, opportunities for DeSantis new voter fraud police to “investigate “.

Maybe a bonus for every flip from Dem or unaffiliated to GQP.

It does impact the victim's ability to vote in the Dem primary since FL doesn't do open primaries.

Which should also help them improve the much needed Demcratic GOTV in Florida. Dem canvassers should recruit some of these elders to work at the polls. Because Florida Republicans are crooked af about election rigging.

in the next primary. Or at least, perhaps they will make it apparent republicans are done with TFG, his minions, and clones. Perhaps defeating Trump-lites was the strategy.

I dread Perdue getting the governorship in Georgia, and have considered voting in the R primary for Kemp and Brad Raffensberger. Raffensberger's challenger would happily commit all kinds of election fraud to put TFG back in. At least Brad R. stood up to TFG.

I have a million questions and Floridians should have them too. This needs a full investigation into who what where when and why.

I'm especially concerns with:

"In November 2021, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that registered Republicans in Florida outnumbered Democrats for the first time. The milestone was the result of a concerted voter registration push that helped the party close a 24,000-registration gap that existed in August."

OH REALLY! Death-Sentence seems pretty please with that........... knowing what a scumbag he is I wouldn't be surprised if he is pulling the strings on this whole thing, perhaps to manipulate the Democratic primary into give him an opponent he feels he can more readily defeat..........
