3. DNC needs an activist arm, a strong one at that.

Not sure this is so, but I feel like the DNC is more about raising money than it is about doing stuff, like activism — stuff that affects those who adversely affect us, in the pocketbook as well as public standing.

So I no longer donate to DNC.

5. It has one. FYI, our big election and gerrymandering legal eagle, Marc Elias, is paid by the DNC.

He gets unlimited funding from other sources, too. He constitutes one arm of DNC activism. But we could always do better.

We need to not put ourselves down as a party when we have brilliant people doing hard work.
Obama is another activist for the party.

If you need an issue for us to address, I suggest this one:

What we really need is for our elected officials to divest themselves from their Big Fossil donors. Now THAT'S a problem, imo.

Here they are.

I stopped copy-pasting after 54 in the first four pages I checked. I skipped every Dem in TX, AK, but there have to be over 100. I counted 76 more on page 5.

https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/summary.php?ind=E01&cycle=2018&recipdetail=H&sortorder=A&mem=N&page=1

That's right. Democrats are every bit as on the take as Republicans -- Swalwell, Castro, Cummings and Clyburn among them.

Here's just what I got from four pages of looking up Dems.
If you don't see your state's Dem, re-look, it's because I probably overlooked a few, or some might no longer be in Congress -- I just went by Open Secrets' latest info.

They've taken small amounts compared to the top twenty, but enough to reject an Intell Agency's report on the climate crisis problem, or maybe kick the can down the road on any green new dealish bills. I'm not criticizing, but explaining they don't have clean donors.

We're not perfect. I get that. But our party can do better.

Eric Swalwell — $24,803

10. Okay. Welp, he's on Open Secrets' list. I'll check and get back if I find anything.

Here's a rundown of his political donation losses, which are many.

https://forward.com/opinion/462063/sheldon-adelson-influence-decline-trump-netanyahu-marijuana/

Here's a clip of what the NYT reports about the effects of his death on the GOP in 2022.

“The corporate giving backlash, along with the tragic passing of Sheldon Adelson, leaves a real void in the fund-raising plans for the 2022 cycle,” said Scott Reed, a veteran Republican strategist who has worked with the Adelsons and other major G.O.P. financiers.

Part of the concern for Republicans, Mr. Reed added, is that the Adelsons have been so singular a force in the party that there is no replacement. “A next generation of Sheldon-level giving does not readily exist,” he said.

The 2020 cycle was the biggest yet for the Adelsons. Together they gave about $217 million, with the largest portion, $90 million, going to a super PAC that supported President Trump’s re-election. They donated another $70 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, which was devoted to maintaining Republican control of the Senate, and $50 million to the main House Republican super PAC...

...in the United States, the [Adelson] couple was a key source of support for the Republican Jewish Coalition, which remained a close ally of Mr. Trump throughout the course of his turbulent presidency. The Adelsons were among those who helped persuade Mr. Trump to lean into a hard-line pro-Israel stance, which led to his decision in 2017 to relocate the American embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv — a move that incensed Palestinians and led to unrest across the Middle East after it was announced.

Here's the Nation's take on why we still need to keep his name on our radar.

14. Yep, you're right. Guess I overlooked that. But he's more complicated and shady than we think.

He also supported Clinton and Obama.

from Wikipedia:

Then ... Scaramucci signed on to Donald Trump's political campaign by joining the Trump Finance Committee.[32] In November 2016, he was appointed to the Presidential Transition Team Executive Committee of then-president-elect Trump. Trump's transition team.

January 23, 2017, he told New York magazine: the "thing I have learned about these people in Washington is they have no money. So what happens when they have no fucking money is they write about what seat they are in and what the title is. Fucking congressmen act like that. They are fucking jackasses".[34] On the topic of working in Washington DC, he said: "[…] that's Washington. That's how they operate. They try to caricaturise you, and dehumanise you, so that you lose your voice. They wanted to get me by grinding out a public image of me that is dramatically different from the reality."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Scaramucci#Anti-Trump_political_activities,_2019–2020

The guy sounds like an operative and an opportunist, though. He's still Republican, cuz that's where the money is, even if he's now against Trump.

I think he's shady enough to keep on this list. Just wish I could remember where I picked up his name from last November.
