Editorial: Hawley posts a fist-pump to ignorance with his position on Ukraine

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Something serious appears to have prompted Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., to label a fellow Republican, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, a “con artist” and “one of the worst human beings.” Perhaps it was Hawley’s public questioning of the need to defend Ukraine from a Russian invasion. Maybe it was when Hawley this week urged President Joe Biden to cave to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s demand that Ukraine be officially denied membership in NATO. Or maybe it was when Hawley falsely asserted that Biden is to blame for Ukraine’s predicament.

Tod Robberson and Kevin McDermott discuss Republicans’ feigned outrage over the president’s pledge to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court, and Sen. Hawley’s call to let Vladimir Putin have his way.
There once was a time when Hawley had presidential aspirations, but a badly timed fist-pump on Jan. 6, 2021, along with his appeasing advocacy of Russian supremacy just about closes the lid on his presidential dreams. We thought Hawley should’ve resigned his Senate seat for his role in the Capitol insurrection, but the idea that the United States should kneel down to Russia over Ukraine underscores how grossly unfit Hawley is to continue in office.

He likes the Russian government model. One party rule. Illegal billionaires given free reign (or should I say free range) to do what they want with repercussions.

It's interesting to me that poor white people are pro this as well. Don't they know there are mostly poor white people in Russia?

Poor White Americans have no clue about Russia. Affluent white Americans have no clue about Russia.

90% of Americans's Russia knowledge comes from 80s movies when Russians were the bad guys, and pictures of St. Basil's cathedral.

The republican party has moved so far off the scale, what used to be acknowledged as deviant behavior, is now welcomed by the republican party.

Once upon a time, long ago in a democratically governed land where I lived, a president was installed by the Supreme Court instead of the voters, and no one intervened. That President made Wars on countries far away for Oil, and blamed it on terrorism. That same President approved of Torture in order to create the evidence our country was in danger.

Then a few years later, a political party along with the major news media created and encouraged a psychopath to run for President, and with the media's help together with foreign advisory, he was installed as President who terrorized the country. He is still free to terrorize our citizens today and is gaining enough strength with every passing day to do more harm.

There was a time, when we could never imagine these things could happen in our country.

But not anymore.
