Raids on the homes, offices of the leaders of the coup. That would be a wonderful way for Garland to announce, yes we are investigating the top ring leaders.
In my opinion, there is more than enough evidence to start going after the top ring leaders of the coup. Confiscate their phones, computers, etc. Just like they did with Rudy recently.

(17,911 posts)I'm not talking about leaders of the recent freaking coup. Other criminals who were raided years after their crimes. Jebus!

(21,299 posts)DOJ has done a good job arresting people involved in the riot past of the coup, no one is arguing that.

(7,506 posts)Daniel Goldman said on Nicole Wallace's show yesterday that if the Jan 6 committee is offering immunity for testimony that means the DOJ isn't investigating toward future prosecutions. Compared it to the Oliver North case where his testimony prevented a criminal prosecution.

(4,913 posts)NO he is not. Does he know what the committee, DOJ are doing? NO he does not. He is offering his opinion, that is all. I think he is wrong, that is my opinion.

(21,299 posts)you know these threads will pit the pro DOJ people v the anti-DOJ people, right, by pro-DOJ I mean when will it create a special grand jury?
Goldman makes an excellent point. Let's look at Jeffrey Clarke who a member of the select committee said it is considering offering Clarke immunity. There is all kinds of concrete evidence out there, including documents that warrant Clarke be investigated for crimes. If the select committee offers him immunity for his testimony, isn't that common sense that would be stepping on DOJ's prosecution of Clarke? We wouldn't need Goldman to figure that one out. Also, it is common sense that the members of the select committee would not offer anyone immunity without first checking with DOJ. The select committee hasn't offered anyone immunity yet so it is a moot point.

(7,506 posts)Than you do because of his experience. That's why he was on the show.
He was majority counsel in the first impeachment inquiry against dump and was an assistant United States attorney in Southern District of New York under Preet Bharara. His opinion is based on his experience and what is already out in the open and what has happened in the past such as the North case.

In addition to Goldman's insight, you can look at the history of this country in allowing numerous crimes committed by top leaders, especially repubs. I wish that wasn't so but it is. I wish Garland would prosecute the ringleaders but don't think it will happen. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable, but I am willing to face reality.

(4,913 posts)I have watched Goldman be interviewed many times before. He usually gives a worst case view of things. He is kind of depressing.

(12,428 posts)The FBI has previously said the attack on the Capital was largely spontaneous and the greatest conspiracy they can find is between a handful of 3%'ers or PB's...
If you're expecting text messages from Jim Jordan or Rudy G directing attackers to this door and that door with orders to do whatever inside the Capitol... that's just fantasy.
gab13by13
(21,299 posts)They planned on overturning the election in November.

(4,913 posts)The attack on the capital was not spontaneous. It was planned and the oath keepers, proud boys led the way. The larger crowd who joined in, the pawns, that was spontaneous.
