Downstate judge finds in favor of parents who object to Gov. J.B. Pritzker's school mask mandate

As the parent of a Chicago Public Schools (CPS) elementary school student this makes me absolutely crazy.
Damn those ignorant downstaters. Plus, I'm sure this is just a taste of the culture war-based nuttiness that will characterize the upcoming election season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hundreds of students at Chicago Public Schools and at scores of districts across the state may be freed from wearing a mask in the classroom, with an Illinois judge ruling Friday that Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s COVID-19 mandate was authorized illegally.

Sangamon County Circuit Judge Raylene Grischow on Friday granted a request from downstate attorney Tom DeVore to temporarily halt the governor’s executive orders on masking and quarantining for schools, finding that the measures are beyond the governor’s authority and deprive students of due process.

“This court acknowledges the tragic toll the COVID-19 pandemic has taken, not only on this State, but throughout the nation and globe,” Grischow wrote in the decision. “Nonetheless, it is the duty of the Courts to preserve the rule of law and ensure that all branches of government act within the boundaries of the authority granted under the Constitution.”

Pritzker issued a statement late Friday saying he asked the attorney general’s office for an immediate appeal of the decision.

The parents don't care in the least if their children die of Covid, become very ill, or get murdered by gun violence.

Parents are wired to make sure their children survive to adulthood.

Usually group leaders are wired to keep their supporters alive, there is a desire to maintain the tribal group. Or politicians will keep their voting base alive.

The GOP not caring at all about the lives of their children and their voters is odd.

But there are case where humans will rigidly hang onto a value mandate to the point of letting the children and tribe be killed.

That is why they are refusing to spend any money for prevention.

They will just let people suffer the devastating effects and make the people pay for that damage in lives and money.

Their Plan A: They are buying up property in areas of the planet they think are protected from climate change. This buys them time for Plan B.

Plan B: Get off the planet. Why do you think that private venture capitalists are allowed their own space projects? And why you hear talk about colonizing other planets.

This is for the oligarchs, not regular people.

human trait but it seems as if your point about hanging onto a value mandate has replaced "survival" in some.

One of my professors was an expert in this psychological theory of survival.

He maintained that a species survival depends upon the ability of a group to adapt to changing environmental demands. Those that can adapt will live. Those that don't, will become extinct.

He further believed that a human's ability to adapt was the best measure of intelligence.

Get 20 miles south of Champaign and it begins. Bunches of counties with 3-6 thousand people. For the whole county.
It seems like a different universe.
