Rogan is a racist asshole

Rogan, already under fire in recent weeks after medical professionals and musicians decried him for helping spread misinformation on the coronavirus, posted a video on Instagram to address what he described as the most regretful and shameful thing that Ive ever had to talk about publicly.
Rogan made the apology in response to a compilation video shared widely on social media this past week showing various moments over 12 years in which Rogan said the n-word on his show. The video was posted by singer India.Arie, who recently removed her catalogue from Spotify in response to Rogans language around race.,,,,,
I was trying to make the story entertaining and I said: We got out, and it was like we were in Africa, like we were in Planet of the Apes, he said. I did not, nor would I ever, say that Black people are apes, but it sure sounded like that. And I immediately said, Thats a racist thing to say.
He acknowledged that he deleted that episode since it was an idiotic thing to say.

(145,130 posts)Here is a good article and I agree that the clips of Rogan being a racist are beyond disturbing. https://hillreporter.com/watch-or-dont-spotify-can-ignore-joe-rogans-medical-disinformation-but-how-about-the-rampant-racism-123692

Spotify is, as you may know, under a lot of pressure to kick Joe Rogans podcast off the platform due to his use of it to push medical disinformation, inviting anti-vax guests and promoting ivermectin and other unsupported treatments for COVID-19 in the midst of a pandemic. Of course, those who remain skeptical of expert opinions on the pandemic also defend him on those grounds, because they believe hes providing legitimate alternative viewpoints.
However, perhaps a bigger question is whether anyone at Spotify can defend this. (Final warning: this is the video that you probably dont actually want to hear, and its a compilation of Rogan using the n-slur dozens of times. It is genuinely awful and painful to hear.)....
Even without that, theres a lot of documented history of Rogans racism, including the recent podcast in which he and Jordan Peterson discussed which people are allowed to consider themselves Black (they decided that the identity should be reserved for people living in Africa and wearing no clothes), and more from over the years.
Then theres this clip from 2019, in which Rogan recounts his experience of going to watch Planet of the Apes in apparently a predominantly Black neighborhood he says, We walked into the planet of the apes. We walked into Africa. Dude, we walked in the door and there was no white people.

Rogan isn't "racist" in the mold of the KKK, but he is very much just plain average as far as the majority simply finds it convenient to ignore any plight of the minority. This is what he should be condemned for, not simply mindlessly parroting code words.

(19 posts)1. Rogan has a plain style that mimics the average man. He's not and never claims to be an intellectual, don't go in an episode with him being all fancy with words dropping out of the Oxford dictionary. Joe Rogan is just a simple dude who happens to get many intellectuals on his podcast.
2. People love the weed and UFC stuff that have made Rogan an household name since hosting Fear Factory. No one is going to the podcast for the latest political discussion but to hear a meathead go off on talking about the latest fight and have a guest smoke a boundless stack of weed, la Elon Musk.
3. People just enjoy the man commentary on subjects.
Not a fan of Joe Rogan at all, and I denounce the recent COVID misinformation from his podcast. However I think liberals are being gullible to act like Joe Rogan fans are Fox News reactionaries when most are just weight-lifting guys who just wanna hear Rogan going off on UFOs and the galaxy. Let's have a media that communicates better about the virus so people don't go instant to average guys who have no understanding of virology.

KEY FACTS
The total comes from a website that tracks episodes of Rogans podcast that have been pulled from Spotify, JRE Missing Forbes confirmed that the episodes are not available on the streaming service (the disappearance of 70 episodes was previously reported by CNET).
All except one of the episodes were recorded before the coronavirus pandemic took off in the United States, which makes it unlikely their removal was linked to Rogans dubious claims about Covid-19.
It was Rogans decision to remove the episodes after consulting with Spotify, Bloomberg reported.
Rogan posted an Instagram video Saturday apologizing for his use of racial slurs on his show and likening a predominantly Black neighborhood to the movie the Planet of the Apes, saying it was a teachable moment for him.
