Were Republicans raised in the forest by wolves?

Everyone I know, from semi-literate river rats and hillbillies to PhDs, were taught very early in life---say, 3 or 4 years old---that telling someone something you know is not true is called a lie, lies are bad and liars are not good people.

As children, we all told our share of lies that our elders kindly termed "fibs" or maybe "little white lies" because we were kids and allowances were made for us because we had not yet learned how to act responsibly. The overwhelming majority of us grew up and now deal honestly with the world. The minority apparently joined the wolf pack.

I am no saint and you folks know by now that I make my share of mistakes, but liars make the hair on the back of my neck rise. I am not talking about good-natured "whoppers" told with tongue in cheek about golf scores, big fish caught or similar "grand accomplishments". I am referring to those who knowingly tell lies that harm others or enrich themselves---or get them elected.

Honesty and truth are the basic necessities for a successful functioning marriage, friendship, business relationship or democracy.

It is some measure of how misguided we are that we can joke about Trump's 30,000 lies.

It is some measure of the threat we now face that some will consider these words naive or childish or "preachy". Be that as it may, liars offend me---"big time".

and work for the benefit of their pack. There are no creatures in the non-human sectors of the animal kingdom that are as iniquitous as humans, and among humans, the modern GOP is about the worst thing out there since 1945 - and some of them are heading in that direction.

Wolves have class and raise their pups to respect elders and care for the habitat the live in. They Take only what they need to survive. Repubs are more like evil greedy hyena’s. Or wild boars. Destroy where ya live and shit on your own floor. Eat everything in your path. Leave nothing.

Republicans. They are mistrustful of people in general. They are resentful as a go-to viewpoint. They have characteristics which do indeed reflect on how their earliest years may have gone.

Irony and satire are the basis of self awareness and them just aren’t wired that way.

When I finally got my degree I was in their world. Money. Accounting. Etc. I’d make an ironic self deprecating comment and see the reactions. Now I New I was the new guy so I was measured and careful but I could see on certain people’s faces that they simply didn’t get it. Those who nodded a bit were okay. Many were just stone faced. Another weird thing I found was their willingness to state that they’d never watched Seinfeld - there was a direct immediate conclusion on my part. This was the world of the “Promise Keepers” if you remember that.

there is a new amoral and servile sensibility. Truth and lie are immaterial, as long the message can be weaponized and used as a propaganda device. We have entered an era of full selective populism. This idea put forth by Umberto Eco in his essay on Ur Fascism is one where "the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People." We are well into a world akin to that in "1984". We have a ministry of truth in the right wing media. We have newspeak in the two word slogans (fake news, death tax, death panel etc.) and we have the conspiracy theories to fear monger, identify the enemies of the "people" ("the people" being those who matter most - white, rich and male) and set the new army of brownshirts on them.

At least 40% of their news coverage (Fox and talk radio) is to report on what “legacy” media are reporting. At least 40%. Only WE know the truth. Everything you’ve been told is a lie.

I think that CNN and MSNBC avoid reporting on what rightwing world is hearing and seeing. Not letting them frame the debate I understand but there is a alternative really world that a lot of people live in. It’s getting worse too.

That's what many Repukes think Dems are doing - destroying America, with our BLMs and our Antifas and our Defunding the Police and our Ballot Harvesting and 'Borting Babies and our Communism and our Gun Grabbing and our Burning Cities to the Ground.

Never back down, never show weakness. The means justify the ends. Seek vengeance.

Far more than you give, a career of lying may be one of the most obvious and seemingly easiest means of sustaining your personal illusion. The Self-Victimizing Party with the super-power of being shameless. A pathetic stance to have adopted, for sure.

Almost as aggravating for me is the carte blanche given these losers by the vast majority of the MSM, rarely getting up on their hind legs and using the words "lie" or "liar." What the yam was trying to do was CHEAT to get the election results he wanted, despite the reality that he lost badly, yet I doubt a word-search would turn up many uses of that frank term. The media has for many years been gratuitously conceding the grifter and his mobs the license granted four-year-olds.

Of course we know that almost everything Trump says is a lie or is stated to help support a lie.

More importantly, his supporters fall into two camps:

Fools - those that really, truly believe the crap that flows from the mouth of this vile human being.

Liars - those that KNOW they are lying and continue to spread it regardless

I'd say of the 20% of the voting public that would still vote for Trump, may 75% of them are fools, maybe 25% of them are liars.

Either way they are an immediate threat to out liberty and our American democracy.

I have been playing golf for many years and the only cheater I know is trump...Golf teaches not to cheat, and we have a saying in our group "if you want to know someone, take them to the golf course, if you want to invest with someone, take them to the golf course. Anyone who cheats in golf is not to be trusted." And that always comes out true...

trump is well known as cheating in golf (and in a lot more things), he cannot be trusted...I know, nothing new here...

Anyway, I know you didn't mean any by it, I am sure there are a lot of people out there who after a beer imagine good shots they never made...

who, after a few drinks, might say they "usually shoot in the low eighties" when their best-ever round was 91.

Similarly, a fisherman might describe the two pound bass he caught by holding his hands two feet apart while insisting it was "HUGE!"

I've never been misguided about Trump's lies...it was the single aspect of the Trump persona that turned me against him on the Republican debate stage. I mentioned that to a family member one day and was told "He's a politician; they all lie."

Honorable Presidents do not outright lie...Honorable Presidents aren't narcissists. Honorable Presidents accept election results. It takes an Honorable man to be an Honorable President.
