Five people are dead and three others are injured and in unknown conditions, after a man shot several members of his family before killing himself overnight Friday, police say.
According to a statement from Corsicana police, officers received a 911 call at about midnight Saturday that a man, identified as 41-year-old Kevin Milazzo, killed his family.
Officers arrived a short time later at a home on the 2900 block of W. 2nd Avenue and found Milazzo's mom, Connie Mimms, and her husband, Bill Mimms, dead with apparent gunshot wounds and two others injured. The survivors were taken by air ambulance to an unnamed Dallas hospital.
Theyre just really good people. They didnt deserve for this to happen to them," said neighbor Kim Felix.
Meanwhile, deputies with the Navarro County Sheriff's Department were sent to a different home, in Frost, where they found 21-year-old Joshua Milazzo, the suspect's son, and a child, identified as 4-year-old Hunter Freeman, who had both been fatally shot. Deputies also found an adult woman with multiple gunshot wounds who was also transported to an unnamed Dallas hospital.

(36,259 posts)"Law enforcement was able to locate Milazzo by tracking his vehicles GPS system. Corsicana cops, the departments SWAT team and Navarro County deputies found and approached Milazzo on a rural road after his vehicles engine had been remotely shut off by a monitoring service, cops said.
As officers swarmed, they found Milazzo critically injured inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Matthew Branch, a medical doctor and member of the SWAT team, provided treatment at the scene, according to police. Milazzo was transported to Navarro Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries."

(8,052 posts)That you can have your car remotely stopped--it's happening in real life now. That is pretty crazy. (Five people getting killed, that's just everyday American life unfortunately)

(1,666 posts)an attempt will be made to make it illegal to drive a car that cant be shut off or doesnt have a GPS. Might be a good idea to have an old beater in a shed in case of needing to drive somewhere without gps and your phone left at home. When was the last year vehicles were made that had no computer chips in them?

Are you thinking of anything beyond that?

(68,504 posts)policed themselves. Is there any gun thread where you don't indicate your support for guns...It truly is sickening to read posts that indicate a complete lack of empathy for gun victims...in this case, some were children. I really don't understand why some are OK with gun violence...I don't.

(2,971 posts)at the issue dispassionately. Note that I didn't reply to the OP; had I done so, you and I both know that a simple expression of sympathy on my part would have been responded to from the various posters who are vociferously anti-gun rights with things along the line of, "Well maybe if you weren't such a gun humper/gunner/gun nut who always clings to his 'gunz', more people would be alive!"
Instead, I replied to your post which brought up gun policy, an issue I enjoy debating...though I am disappointed at how often the anti-gun rights side resorts to personalization and name calling.
I really don't understand why some are OK with gun violence...I don't.
I don't know anyone who is OK with all gun violence. On the other hand, there are certainly examples of gun violence which I find perfectly acceptable such as justifiable self-defense.
