Just a guess, by the 2024 election the Republican party could be seriously fractured.

Maybe sooner than that. This would definitely help the Democrats.

We can already see signs some of Trump voters turning against Trump. We see some Republicans in congress starting to speak out against Trump. The RNC has lost their minds. The hard core Trump voters will never stop supporting Trump. However, If Trump is not on the ticket a lot of the crazy Trump voters will stay home. Some of them never voted until Trump came along. They hate politicians period, that's why they loved Trump. He wasn't a politician.

The Republican Party is a mess and things could get worse after the open hearings, indictments, trials, etc. The hard core extremist Trump supporters will become more extreme and more of the sane Trump voters will say they have had enough. You are to crazy for me.

Many of us have remained life long friends. When we hung out together we rarely talked politics. When we did, many of them would say all politicians are same. They are all full of shit, they are all crooks. Some of them never voted until Trump came along. All of the sudden they became very political about Trump, period.

They liked Trump because he was not a politician. Needless to say I do hang out with them no more.

My point is my Trump voting friends will probably not vote if Trump is not on the ticket. Some may not even vote if Trump is on the ballot because Trump has gone to far. Some of my friends were stupid voting for Trump, however I know they are not like the Trump voters you see at his rallies. They are not insane. I imagine there are people across the country like some of my friends who voted for the first time because of Trump.

Now they are regretting it, at least in private.

they voted for Trump because he isn't a politician or because he says it like it is, then I'm pretty sure they only liked his islamophobic and anti-Mexican stance, the two pillars of his 2016 campaign. Trump said the quiet part out loud while the usual Repub candidate wouldn't go that far. That may change in 2024 with other Repub candidates being openly deplorable.
Trump supporters were racist aholes before Trump, they just didn't have the courage to admit that.

I live amongst and keep company with many Rs, and many trump voters.

45 lords over them all, but end of the day what unites them is us - the evil liberals.

They vote AGAINST us more than they vote for anything, including the jackass.

The one thing he did was completely normalize being open about racism, mysogony, pushing chrisofascism, etc.

He is the king of this, but there are now thousands of R elected officials across the country that have come to that line thinking and expressing it, everyone of them following his lead of trying find new ways to push the boundaries on it.

Minus the jackass, they will eagerly rally around whatever hate spewing POS rings their bell of tearing down american democracy and further pushing the US into a hate filled Idiocracy.

...is an uphill struggle. People also took Trump at his word that he would get stuff done, and he didn't. No wall, no substantive changes to immigration. And he went too far. And nobody wants to say it out loud but he looked weak and foolish way too many times. Buyer's remorse is setting in and they believe the election is rigged anyway, since their own leaders told them so, so why bother voting? I see nobody new voting for Trump who didn't vote for him in 2020, and very likely nobody who didn't vote for him in 2016, since all that extra effort didn't do the job. Apathy is a powerful un-motivating factor particularly in voters who are disillusioned by this kind of failure.

Outside of jamming judges in.

Whatever "apathy" they might have is historically overshadowed greatly by democratic apathy.

We will see that play out this November yet again.

Sorry, reality is running against something has long been the strongest motivator.

They did nothing other than running against THEIR form of Healthcare reform and had the biggest midterm blowout in modern history in 2010.

That was after running against Ws Iraq fiasco got the dems biggest midterm win in recent history.

The jackass won with them running against Hill.

that the decent Repubs will stay home. Similarly, the Tea party was supposed to fracture the Repubs, too. It just doesn't seem to happen. In the end, Repubs are pragmatic when it comes to turning out to vote. There is always something they hate more than the opponents in their own party.
On the other side, enough people being butthurt in 2016 resulted in Dems losing 3 SC judges.

it isn't the Ds fault, but they are lazer focused on tearing American democracy apart and creating a hate filled Idiocracy in its place, while Ds are running like a puppy with no attention span battling cultural war BS.

Steve Schmidt and some of the other R defectors are correct - the battle here is for American Democracy, pure and simple.

Hammer that 24-7 and that the R party and conservative movement are corrupt, fascists trying to remake us into a chrisofacist authoritarian state.

The GQP is primarying a bunch of people they think of as RINOs. That could backfire on them, i think, and Democrats may be able to flip more Congressional districts than anyone expects.

By November, we will probably know much more about the perfidy of the January 6 insurrection and some Republican voters who aren't part of the 30% hard-core Trumpist base may just not vote for the Trumpists in the general election.

If things go like I believe they will, Democrats will have some surprising results in congressional races and maybe even in some state legislative elections.

A lot depends on how much ugly crap comes out before November. I expect it to get really smelly on the GQP side before then, frankly. Timing is going to be important, which is why I'm not that worried about the slow pace of indictments around January 6 and other things.

It's going to be an interesting midterm election, I believe.
