INCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska on Friday became the 17th state to call for a convention of states to consider making changes to the U.S. Constitution, putting supporters halfway to their goal of getting the 34 states needed to trigger a convention.

Nebraska lawmakers gave the measure final approval with a 32-10 vote, just three days after Wisconsin passed a similar proposal.

This convention is bad news as it is being pushed by the extreme right wing states and not in the national interest. We will need our blue states to block anything that emerges from such a convention if it happens.

Where would it be held? Who would pay for it? How long would it run? How could they ever get enough agreement of convention attendees to complete a document?
How long would it take to get 3/4 of the states to approve the document?

It seems to me that the convention part of the process would take years, and in that time the political climate, and even the actual delegates, would continue to change, leading to endless alteration of the final document. I can't see this evolving beyond being a debating/shouting/fist waving/chest beating chaotic mess.
Given the polarization of today's society, I don't think there could ever be enough cooperation and compromise to actually produce a cohesive document that 3/4 of the states would accept.

It would just be another public forum for the wolves to howl at the moon.
We already have that, it's called Fox News.

The RW was calling for a Constitutional Convention in order to repeal certain provisions but ESPECIALLY the Freedom of the Press.

My mother had said that if they hold it and do so, we would be emigrating.
