in my classroom when I taught 5th grade. When I went back to third I gave The Giver to my teammates who were still teaching 5th grade. I kept a couple of copies for me as I was the purchaser of the books.

Probably will read more nowthat they are banned.

Catcher in the Rye is an anthem for younger people.

Edit: I guess they will have to ban some movies next.

Several shootings have been associated with Salinger's novel, including Robert John Bardo's murder of Rebecca Schaeffer and John Hinckley Jr.'s assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan. Additionally, after fatally shooting John Lennon, the delusional fanatic Mark David Chapman was arrested with a copy of the book that he had purchased that same day, inside of which he had written: "To Holden Caulfield, From Holden Caulfield, This is my statement".

Don't know why that caught on -- seemed like a whole book of nothing but whining of a guy who hadn't grown up yet.

I've read or watched some of them on TV, some I haven't. One Book I've read was (the book thief) and it was a movie and a book. It's highly recommended before they turn on that one. But it's a good thing we can still read books online and order them as well. This book burning can't stand. Love my books

when I was a less than a good student, due to less interest caused by moving every year and always having to play catch up.
Reading these books made me learn to love to read and understand the world around me.
