Will people remember where they were on 1/6, like they remember 9/11?

Like they remember 11/22? or 1/28? or 12/7?

I think I will.

I was in the parking lot at BJ's, sitting in the car w/ Al's son, waiting for Al. Al's son checked his phone and told me that the GA Senate race that was still in question was called for the Democrats. I got out of the car and was literally dancing in the parking lot.

When I got back in the car, he told me that the U.S. Capitol building was under attack.

(And then I felt like a fool for dancing in the parking lot.)

What's your story?

I'd been out earlier in the afternoon, finally turned the tv on around 3:00 (CST), saw what was going on, and it did kind of remind me of 9/11 in the sense that all that was going through my mind at first was, What the actual fuck? I couldn't process it.

…(including a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and a friend of hers at the Pentagon) to watch and chat about the Congressional session. We started out at 11 with the end of the Trump rally.

Seven hours later…..

It was amazing the cops only shot one person. How some of the police did not draw their weapons while they were being attacked, assaulted, injured is hard to believe. A lot of those police officers had a right to shoot in self defense.

I noticed after the officer who did shoot and kill a Trump nut, the other Trump nut's scattered quickly.

It was a critical defining moment of our history.

On DU we were discussing the possibilities several weeks before Jan. 6th so I believe we had a heightened awareness. If it weren't for all the alerts on DU, I might have missed most of it.

I was at work and I kept getting emails from someone we contract with. They were friendly, chatty, upbeat, while I was finding it hard to concentrate, knowing what was going on.

I finally said in an email, "Do you know all hell is breaking loose in DC?" She didn't, said she would check the news that evening. I found myself envying her going blissfully about her business.

And also going in and out as a friend was removing a woodpile for me so I was helping a little. I told him about it and he was not sure what to think. After he went home and watched the news he called to talk about it.

Having satellite radio on 1/6 made it easier to keep up with events as they unfolded when compared with 9/11.

I watched it live, in shock. Not sure about non-political folks, though. Some of my non-political friends have already disengaged from politics since Trump isn't in the news outraging them every day. And I have more non-political friends than political. They're the ones we have to get to the polls this fall.

one set tuned to either MSNBC or CNN, depending on what’s going on…

I was watching it begin and progress and was thinking: “Here we go. It’s do or die for AMERICA right this moment.”

When Pence had to be ushered out and then when the shot rang out which killed that Insurrectionist, I knew this was beyond a “watershed” moment in America and would for hundreds of years be a defining moment.

All around the issues, the “shit got real…fast.”
