We expect our elected officials to have a conscience and know right from wrong

Quite a few big name Rs started the never trump movement early on when qrump started gaining traction in 2015,
even Lindsey Graham & Ted Crude belonged to this group before they decided their own ass was more important
than the people who elected them. The R never trumpers who knew right from wrong started groups such as
The Lincoln Project.

If a person is intelligent enough to get elected to Congress, I assume they were aware early on qrump was ill
equipped to be POTUS. But instead of reining him in after he was elected, they aided and abetted the domestic
terrorist they disliked. That term does fit him well since he started Jan 6th.

99% of elected Rs have no conscience today and have lost the ability to know right from wrong. The proof is in
their voting records to protect FailedCoupGuy, plus they're too stupid to see it's a losing battle for them. All they
have left is "legitimate political discourse", let's use it against them going into the midterms along with lack of a
conscience and knowing right from wrong where we can.

BIG BLUE WAVE coming....

Seems like they are baffled by the whole concept of democracy Walleye Feb 2022 #1
I think they understand the concept, just not the application. patphil Feb 2022 #2
They don't really believe in getting the consent of the governed Walleye Feb 2022 #3
I agree, they just want the illusion of consent to create a false sense of legitimacy. patphil Feb 2022 #4
I want to differ just a little bit maxrandb Feb 2022 #5

For them, Democracy means they have the right to make the rules, and the rest of us have the right to follow them.
It's a limited form of Democracy; a white only version.

I think it's more societal norms that have held civilization together than the conscience of our elected leaders.

We've had some absolute shitbags in positions of authority, but the pressure of the societal standards of decency kept them in check.

There are people that I worked with in the Navy that held positions that could do great harm. Intel Officers, Corpsman, Commanders, Division Officers, etc. Some I would never trust to watch my kids, but doing their job? Sure.

It's why Retrumplicans and Donnie Dipshit MAGAts are so hellbent to destroy societal norms.

If societal norms, professional ethics and decency had held in 1930s Germany, Hitler would have never been able to do what he did.

My nephew is any extremely "Christian" person. He is also an EMT. He would never refuse emergency medical care to an athiest. Professional Ethics and decency demands that he couldn't.

Remove decency and empathy from society, and we are in big trouble.

It's why when President Biden says we are in a battle for the soul of our country, we better believe him.

The next Civil War won't be fought between the North and the South. It will be fought between those with decency and empathy, and those without.
