Trump Rant at Prosecutors Has Roots in Growing Narrative - 'White replacement theory'

Looking out at a sea of faces at a Texas fairground, most of them white, former President Donald Trump seethed about his legal troubles and blamed them on malicious prosecutors. "These prosecutors are vicious, horrible people. They're racists and they're very sick, they're mentally sick," Trump said last weekend, before warning his audience: "In reality, they're not after me. They’re after you." He repeated his charge of racism, the AP reports, but skipped over an obvious detail: Those prosecutors are Black. His diatribe left the clear impression that Trump, who rode the politics of white grievance into the White House, thinks he can't possibly be treated fairly by Black officials.

The comments carry the echoes of racist messages that have proliferated in recent years—that Black people and other minorities are taking power, and that they will exact revenge on white people, or at the very least treat white people as they have been treated. That's among the fears stoking the white supremacy movement, the so-called "white replacement theory" that people of color will supplant whites in the country's power dynamics and social structure. "These are the same justifications that they use for Jim Crow laws and their mistreatment of African Americans," said Brian Middleton, a Black district attorney in Fort Bend County, Texas.

Opponents and analysts say Trump's rhetoric has escalated, perhaps because he recognizes that some among his base are receptive to more overt racism.
"It intensifies that discourse and makes it explicitly racial," said Casey Kelly, a communications professor who has pored over transcripts of Trump's speeches.

This question:

Trump was a racist before he was elected president. He governed as a racist president. He attacked free and fair elections in 2020. He’s taken Putin side against the U.S. and our allies. He promoted an insurrection against the government, once he realized he lost in his re-election bid. He put in charge people that have effectively destroyed the effectiveness of the Post Office (and other government offices). When searching on the web, I can have the dubious pleasure of seeing naked pictures of the 1st Lady, and he has more sexual allegations against him than Bill Clinton (because she hated Hillary). So, tell me more about your Christian values that led you to vote for him?

Silence - but I would bet dollars to dimes, she voted for him in 2020.

if he somehow fools republicans into thinking "he alone can do it" in 2024.

In their eyes the worst republican (and Donald Trump is that) is better than the best Democrat, because a Democrat couldn't be more Christ-like than a republican.

These people can twist their religion to fit any narrative, and most often do.

One's political values reflect one's spiritual values or both are worthless. If she supports the embodiment of materialism, she chooses Mammon. If she supports a racist leadership, she rejects loving not only one's neighbor, but also one's enemy. If she upholds sexual discrimination, she needs to think about the disciples' concern for an Ethiopian eunuch. If she's proud of being churchy, Jesus disapproved of public displays of piety, as well as formulaic prayer and ritual. If she thinks she can fail to follow Jesus's teachings, then Jesus calls out her lack of faith. No faith without complementary behavior. If she thinks she'll be forgiven her shortcomings, she needs to ponder the parable about the sinner who's put into prison and can't get out without paying his debt... the sinner must get himself out, not Jesus. Ah, well! One could go on and on....I'm glad your friend has you to model Christian values for her!!!

Nevertheless she voted twice for Trump and absolutely will do so in 2024, apparently regardless of whether he's on the ballot.

I asked her why, considering all that we know about him. She answered that he's a smart businessman.

I simply didn't know what to say at that point. They are completely insulated from reality, while they insist that they're the only ones who really see the big picture.

To you friend I would assert that it is simply not possible to be a Christian while supporting Trump.

I have no doubt that there are plenty of rethugs that would vote for him before they’d vote for any Dem, but he is losing some. And he’s never been that popular with the majority of Americans. But it’s been his most successful scam ever. He’s never been able to change direction. He’ll just double and triple down, but his days as an elected official are done. He’ll enjoy his position as a power broker and continue to fleece the rubes.

because he believed that he and Putin had the election rigged well enough to overcome votes against him. When it didn't work, he resorted to violence.

The fact that he is riling up the base now suggests that he does not give a damn about elections but expects to use force and intimidation to take over or to get Trumpists in office this year to protect him in Congress.

As long as you replace blinkered dumb white folk in power with intelligent, open minded people.

Hell, I won't mind what skin color they have!
(If people use skin color as an important criterion for job selection, they are doing it wrong. Yes, I know that happens.)

Get used to it dumb, entitled people (of any color), intelligent, open minded and capable people (of any color) are after your positions!

No sense of entitlement or superiority will save you from that.

Yes, take comfort in your White Supremacist/Master Race thinking, TFG loves that, but it won't get you very far.

Nonsense.

Trump has always been an overt racist who used racist attacks to rile up his brown shirts.

Does the author of this article not remember 6 years ago, when Trump attacked Hispanic American U. S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel as inherently biased because he was a “Mexican”?

add prosecutors to the list of jobs black people can't work in because we can't erase history. Hundred years ago there weren't many black prosecutors so douchebag wants to maintain that tradition.

Trump should just campaign on bringing back the whites only signs from segregation. Make America Great Again.
