"SNIP........

House Republicans, conducting their own investigation of the Jan. 6 insurrection, plan to accuse the Capitol security apparatus of “negligence at the highest levels,” Axios reports.

“By placing blame on the building’s top security officials, this shadow investigation gives the GOP an alternative frame for discussing the 2021 Capitol assault.”

Vox: The GOP’s January 6 lies have reached a fever pitch.

2. I think there is some blame to be placed on the capitol police.

They should have been more prepared. They should have used more force, and used it much sooner, to stop the rioters.

That in no way diminishes the culpability of the GOP traitors who fomented the insurrection. It just acknowledges that the capitol police did not put down that insurrection with the swift force that it should have.

The next time they will be more prepared, and ready to take forceful action.

I don't know if blame is the right word. There were so many agencies involved in security, with tfg and his handlers manipulating so many details; who can ask for help or authorize troops, who takes precedence, who takes orders from whom; who gets information and what instructions they get, etc.

A lot of Capitol police have had to deal with feeling they could have or should have done more.
But it was a mob, attacking them, and they weren't prepared for that. Not their fault. This was a never before seen event. Blame the bosses. Those in charge should have made sure they were prepared, and they will be prepared next time!

Just like everything else the GOP pretends to stand for, their reverence for the police is utter bullshit.
