Or if he wants to be governor again. If he does, he will have to leave the party, though the speculation is that he’ll become an independent and caucus with Dems.

If he’s going to switch, he has to cause the Dems some pain when he does it. He can’t just support the Dems for the first two years, give them the wins they want (like a SC Justice, the BIF and the Covid package), and then switch if the Repubs win the Senate. That gives the Repubs nothing but another vote, which they don’t need because they can’t pass anything anyway with Biden as Pres.

Basically if he’s going to do it, he has to do it very soon.

If he does, he will be an Independent. If he became a Republican, he knows he would be put into line in a heartbeat as Repukes don’t tolerate disloyalty. He likes being the cause of the discord and getting press about it.
