accuse mainstream Democrats of making politics all about "Orange Man Bad", at least they did it a lot in 2020, when they were complaining about not having any good major party candidates to choose from. I think it's just sort of their way to basically say that "both sides suck" or that Trump is less of a problem rather a symptom of our political system. I never understood it. Trump is a very bad/sick individual and he needs serious psychological intervention, not a bunch of people kowtowing to him and enabling him and trying to push him back into the WH. And he *was* a huge disaster for our country and it will be 10X worse if he or somebody like him gets all that political power again.

The only reason I can think of for thinking "Trump Hate" is a bad thing would be if you support treason.

13. It's possible to oppose someone without hating them, though Trump makes that very hard.

Like the old saying goes, "Hatred is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." I totally understand why people hate Trump, because there are myriad reasons. Every time he opens his mouth, he adds another one. It's entirely possible to oppose him and all his works without hating him, or those who have willingly allied with him. It's just... really, really hard a lot of the time, given the magnitude of the destruction he's unleashed.

I lurked on DU for years before signing up, and I will say I am utterly dismayed by how extreme some people here have become in their hatred of Trump and his followers since he came on the scene. Some of the posts I've read are every bit as hateful as the sort of things Trump's followers say, some of the suggestions every bit as extreme. This is probably a wildly unpopular view, but it seems to me that Trump has won by making many people, and not just those on the right, like himself.

And it doesn't have to be that way. I'm not saying you have to love him, his followers, or what he/they did, are doing, and will do, mind you. This is not a "turn the other cheek" suggestion. But by hating him/them, you become like him/them, and when that happens, he wins. Some days it's really, really hard, but I try my hardest to choose not to hate. But that's my choice and my way of looking at it. YMMV.

either equally good or bad?

Is no hate ever justified?

If he was still alive, I'd hate Hitler. Would that be wrong? Unjustified?

If it's ok to hate Hitler, then we simply disagree about how evil one must be before it is "ok" to hate them. Trump checks all the boxes for me.
