PoliticoFor all the energy he creates at the partys grassroots, his stranglehold on the party is emerging as one of the biggest threats to the GOPs otherwise bright prospects in November.
He has already singled out 10 House Republicans for extinction. He is attacking GOP governors and backing their primary challengers, while meddling in Senate races where it may lead to the nomination of flawed candidates who are ill-suited for a general election. He is fomenting a rebellion against the partys Senate leader, Mitch McConnell. And this week, in Salt Lake City, it was David Bossie, the former Trump deputy campaign manager, who was leading the effort to kick Cheney and Kinzinger to the curb.
Some of us who have been around for a while dont think this makes any sense, said Bill Palatucci, a Republican National Committee member from New Jersey. Weve got Biden in free fall, [Democrats] cant get anything done in Washington, and for us to convene a circular firing squad, that make no sense to me.
Mike DuHaime, a former Republican National Committee political director, called the censure insane.
Republicans in disarray!

(6,617 posts)I am so sick of this statement "In a year in which even many Democrats acknowledge the GOP will likely win the House" to which I say to anyone, why the HELL would anyone in their right mind think this is a good idea to even consider, much less acknowledge?

(28,290 posts)And the media always pretends to speak for us. Nope. It's not " their turn", much as they try to establish this rule.

(217 posts)Politico. One must expect that 'publication' to create a particular type of framing for what they want you to see out of their window on the political situation. The glass being distorted by right wing perspective we are expected to ignore or not see. The last two words in that sentence being what they really are.

(217 posts)and months the worm has turned. The expected, predicted, media created and desired toxic red tide, is becoming a reverse tide. There is a lot of good news for Team Blue. The media just doesn't want to tell us. The truth will interfere with next years bonuses.

(32,075 posts)Which is favoring the Democrats, despite all of the predictions to the contrary. But, Politico and the rest of the media aren't going to mention that. Much like they're not going to report that Biden is not really "in free-fall," or that he's actually getting a ton of things done, while they hyperfocus on the one or two things not getting one.
I do give them credit for actually reporting on Trump's "circular firing squad" for a change, rather than their usual "Democrats in disarray" bullshit. Can't wait to see how they spins things once those Prime Time hearings are underway.

Frankly, I'm surprised Trump hasn't broken away from the Republicans to form his own "Trump Party."
