Trump Stole Documents from White House
February 7, 2022 at 7:26 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment
The recovery of the boxes from Trumps Florida resort raises new concerns about his adherence to the Presidential Records Act, which requires the preservation of memos, letters, notes, emails, faxes and other written communications related to a presidents official duties.

(28,265 posts)What else did he steal? besides a substantial portion of the Treasury................
Harker
(17,785 posts)I can't think of anything he'd be above stealing, or that anything would be beneath him.

(58,785 posts)Every item that was stolen would be known, and what has been recovered, but I haven't read about those efforts.
The WH staff professionally packs and delivers the personal possessions of departing occupants.
But observers reported and videoed stuff just being carried away by others. I remember seeing a large, heavy bust of Lincoln being schlepped out by some guy that would have been badly damaged if dropped.

(17,785 posts)I would've though Lincoln Rockwell would've been more fitting.
Maybe someday there'll be a homophonic bust of A. Blynken in there.

(58,785 posts)We know tRump's staffers removed their own possessions. It was other stuff on loan to the WH from the national collection that was the issue and subject to "souvenir" theft.

(58,785 posts)of course. She did her best to make the fake scandal huge and must be very proud of its great success. No one remembers her spreading the story of Hillary's lesbian affair with her dog groomer, or gives proper credit to hundreds of other slanders over the years, but this one indisputably changed the course of American history and got her name listed in the indexes of books on the era.

(32,321 posts)Love letters from Kim are foreign affairs documents. WTF this guy is above the law anyway, to charge Trump with anything one has to prove that he hid or ripped up documents with criminal intent. WTHF, what other reason is there for ripping up documents or hiding documents that must be preserved by the National Archives?
This story is a nothingburger, just like prosecuting Trump is a nothingburger. Already this is being compared with Hillary's emails.
Maybe the National Archive investigators will look at this, I sincerely doubt that DOJ will.

(8,178 posts)in removing the boxes from Mar a Lago!
I've tried to imagine Feds getting a warrant to search tfg's gauche digs and arresting him and his cohorts, but every time I do I see Eric Prince and his mercenaries holding guard 24/7 ready to go to war against the FBI/DOJ officers.
I'm stunned they were able to conduct this operation.
Is this possibly fake news?
How did political wire get this news? Is it being reported out by other agencies?
This is one hell of a scoop.

(8,178 posts)does WaPo explain *how* this proceeded?
I suppose it was a "friendly" phone call to trumps lawyers? Probably simply made a deal, won't charge if you let us enter the premises to retrieve those boxes of files kind of thing.
and gosh this was two months ago?! we're just finding out about it now.

(17,742 posts)take this amount of time for them to go get them? Seems to me the National Archives should have immediately done a audit/search for documents from his or any presidents administration once they leave office.
