(11,763 posts)It saves lives. Why are people so blatantly stupid and listening to right-wing jerks who themselves are vaxxed and probably wear masks in public.

(13,183 posts)They are frustrated and angry about other areas of their lives, and focus their anger on being asked to wear a mask. They are emotionally stunted and couldnt care less about public safety or the million Americans whove died from Covid.

Retrograde
(11,390 posts)I mostly use the ones I've made (fit well on my face with no gaps, most are 2 layers of tightly woven cotton, some have an additional non-woven layer as well), and they tend to hold in moisture - which is kinda what they're supposed to do, keep the exhaled droplets from spreading to others - and after a couple of hours they can feel unpleasantly damp. So I wash them after wearing. Since they have flexible nose-pieces they don't interfere with my glasses (too much). Even after 2 years, though, I occasionally forget them.
I'm looking into other styles, something that's better than the common blue masks. I've used older N-95 masks for handling dye powders (you don't want that in your lungs) and found them uncomfortable for long-term wear. There has to be (or should be) alternatives that provide the protection of N-95 masks that are easier to wear, easier to put on and take off, and adjustable to a wide range of head sizes and shapes - not to mention hair. Otherwise, people will continue to find reasons not to wear them.

(1,495 posts)I'll wear an N95 if I have to go into an especially high risk situation, but I feel very protected in a KF94. Being able to adjust the earloops (but not all KF94 brands have this feature, unfortunately) really gives me a good tight fit.

(129,730 posts)If they didn't, the oppressive commie government would make them. "Mildly uncomfortable" is a very poor excuse for refusing to wear masks, and it isn't the point anyhow. It's all about the performance.

(1,495 posts)It's not like they're all trussed up in a tight fitting N95 mask like health care workers have been wearing for 12 hour shifts.

(13,326 posts)about wearing masks. Children seem to adjust much better than many adults. Luckily in Canada they don't have active shooter drills but they do know about lockdowns as it has happened a couple of times when a local business is robbed, they immedicately lock down the schools in the area.

(10,476 posts)I can only speak for myself, but when I have a hot flash the sweat is inside them and sweat trickles down my face. They knock my glasses off kilter and I can't see out of the right part of the lens. They kill my ears after awhile. They make it hard to breathe. N95s - I have a very small face and they catch the thin skin under my eyes and it hurts. I can't wear my glasses at all with some of them. If I can manage to wear my glasses they fall off when I lean over. They make me cough when I have to talk for a long time, which I do for my job. YMMV.
I do wear one when I have to (no n95), but I take them off as soon as I can.

(50,999 posts)and they are training burkas on the slippery slope to sharia law. Or if a person's face is covered, you don't know if they're a criminal or just a liberal.
Although if they don't wear a mask, you can rest assured they are probably a conservative and you would do well to steer clear of them for other reasons too.
